Marni and Beka soon slipped into a routine of chores, practice and, for Beka, work. Now that they knew they were both 100% witch, they trained harder, determined to be the best.

She had already leveled up again (to level 14), and there wasn’t much competition, as they were the only 100% witches alive, but being such a young witch, Marni was struggling to keep her powers in check. She would find her self wishing something upon some one and it happening when ever she got angry. She knew that the power was playing with her mind, yet, she found it strangely comforting that Beka was like her.

Walking down the street became a harder task, and she knew the guards around her were becoming suspicious. They watched her closely, especially when she stayed behind after hours in Bekas’ store (which sold witch supplies, which of course every one except real witches thought were fake, as only witches can use magic, so spells would do nothing for mortals).

She hated the feeling of being watched, almost as much as she hated the way the witches at the club had started to fear her. Surely they knew she would never hurt any of them? Then again, she knew the last 100% witch became evil, so the fear was semi-understandable.

She sighed slightly, sitting in her seat at the meeting. She knew what they were doing tonight, so of course knew that she could do it. Everyone suddenly hushed. Marni looked up, and saw a new witch glaring at her.

“You’re in my seat” The new witch stated.

“Are you sure? You’re new though, aren’t you? So how can this be your seat?” Marni replied, sensibly trying to keeping her cool.

“So? I say move, you move.” The newbie replied. Although Marni was not the most experienced witch yet, she could sense power, and this chick really didn’t have as much as she seemed to think. Marni looked straight into her eyes and smiled,

“No.” Of course the standard gasps were heard, but not because of what Marni had said. That was perfectly fine. The fact that the new witch had started chanting a spell was defiantly not acceptable. Marni immediately noticed what she was doing and chanted the counter spell.

A loud clap distracted both of them. Marni smiled gratefully at Beka, who was stood behind the new witch.

“Miss Rose, may I ask what you’re doing?” Instantly Roses’ face was that of an angels’.

“Yes, of course miss! I was just asking… Sorry, I didn’t catch your name.” Rose trailed off, hinting at Marni to put her name in the gap.

“Marni” She obliged.

“Right, Marni, if there was any spare seats around.” Marni let out a unladylike snort and tried not to laugh at the witches attempt to cover up what she was really doing.

“Of course, well as you can see, the seat next to Marni is spare, so you may sit there. Now, on with today’s lesson!” Beka turned around and began talking about the spells they were going to go through. Marni knew all of them, and tuned out, thinking about Rose. There was something about her that was off. She held normal power, but there was something above it. She sighed quietly to herself and looked over to Rose who was engrossed in what Beka was saying. Studying her face, she realized that she looked just like one of the girls from school.

After 20 minutes they were disbanded to practice a spell each to help then get to the next level. Marni stood up and turned to Rose.

“Want to practice with me?” She asked politely.

“Why not? Which spell are you practicing?” Rose replied, shrugging.

“Which-ever you want to. I already know them all.” Marni stated. Roses’ eyes widened slightly, before she adjusted herself.

“How? You’re younger than me! I’ve seen you at school; you’re only in year 10!” Marni nodded.

“Yup. But I’m a full witch, so I’m already level 14” The shocked look that Marni always received appeared on Roses face. “Shall we?” She asked.

“Sure. Can I practice the middle level 8 spell please on you please?” Marni nodded. Roses’ behavior had changed dramatically since their first encounter 20 minutes ago. She vaguely wondered if she should find this suspicious, but was brought back to reality by her quickly disappearing hand. Using her own magic she reversed the spell.

“Rose, try saying it bl-I-cue instead of bliq, trust me. You nearly took my hand off!” Marni corrected, laughing slightly. Rose nodded, embarrassed.

After an hour, Rose could successfully create a breeze through the room, and just about use it too manipulate light objects like to turn a page in a book.

“Hey! Do you want to meet up after school tomorrow? We could go through the spell again? I have a little underground place at Bekas’ house we could go to?” Rose nodded before saying her goodbyes and leaving to go home.

“Heya, Kiddo. Have fun today?” Marni nodded, before replying;

“Yer. But there is something off about Rose, like she’s hiding something big. I just can’t figure it out.”

“It’s ok. It’ll come to you. Now let’s head home, huh? Can you help me with dinner tonight? You could practice your cooking skills. Without magic, that is.”

“Sure. Let’s go!”
