By now a small crowd had gathered, of doctors and other relatives of her adopted family. They gasped as they heard the one word come from Marnis’ mouth. Marni turned to Beka once again, braking eye contact with her mum. "Can we go now?" She was acting like she was aloud to leave, and it was perfectly normal to defy her parents. Her family stared at her as she pulled the needles out of her skin that were meant to be keeping her alive, and stood up to stretch. She looked back at Beka, still awaiting an answer. "Well?" She stated simply.

"Course, if the doctor agrees. You seem in good enough condition to me, what do you think, doctor?" She turned around and looked at the doctor. Although he seemed stunned, he nodded and said,

"Yes, as long as you'll allow me to do some quick checks, and you'll come back in a couple of weeks for a basic check-up, I see no reason why not." He walked over to Marni to begin the tests.

20 minutes later she had been cleared and was walking out of the hospital with a smirk on her face. Beka was beside her, "Where are you going to go now? You’re welcome to my house for a while, I mean, if you want to, that is..." Marni stopped and stared at her with wide eyes and an open mouth.

"YES! YES! YES! YES! I would love too live with you, just until I'm old enough to get a new place, obviously..." The Guard behind her grunted for them to move again, and they continued to move towards the car. Marni loved Bekas’ car. Of course the trailer all cars had to lug behind for the Guards’ escorting them ruined it a little but the main car was beautiful. It was an Alfa Romeo 147 series and the classic ol' GT, red. Marni had decided that she wanted one when she was older. I was her official dream car. “She then looked up at Beka, curiously. “Why did you give me up then, mum?” The word sounded strange, but good at the same time. In the weeks they had been practicing, Marni had come to view Beka as a second mother, and Beka had come to love Marni, well, like her own daughter. Beka sighed and looked at her.

“I’ll tell you when we get back to the house. But first, we need to pick up your stuff from your adoptive parents home.” Marni nodded, getting into the car. She understood that she would want to tell her about her reasons in private, rather than in front of all the Guards.

With the speed the Alfa Romeo, they were back at Bekas’ apartment in 45 minutes. Marni had packed everything that she owned, right up to the last pair of dirty underwear. She never wanted to see her adoptive parents again. She was happy to live with Beka for ever.
