Marni frowned. A war? Over her? Why?
“Why did you do that? Now thousands will die!”
Mellow looked between Beka and Marni confused. “A war? Why will it start a war?”
“The government have been aiming for a civil war for a while now. This is the perfect opportunity. Now, all those who are happy to fight with us please-”
“How are you all so calm?” Marni exploded “We just started a civil WAR. You know, where hundreds of thousands of people die? Where tens of millions of people are injured? Where the government wipe us all out?”
An older witch smiled slightly patronizingly before stating “Honey, we all knew that this was coming. Now, let the adults talk about where you children can go to be safe for a while.”
Marni glared, then twisted her face into a sickly sweet smile.
“Plus, of course, where those too old to fight can go too! We wouldn’t want them hurt either.” She retorted overly pleasantly as the elderly witch frowned.
“Marni, watch it. We need all the help we can get. Let’s face it, we need to start recruiting. I know a couple of clans overseas, they might help, and does anyone else have any favours they could call in? I doubt the government will let this be broadcast until they drop the first bomb. Anyway, as I was saying, all those who will fight for us, please raise your hand now.” Beka smiled as everyone in the room raised their hand, even little Mellow. “Well then, let’s prepare for war.”

Within four hours, all of Bekas alliances had replied saying they would come and help as soon as they could, and quite a few other witches had made calls to their families to warn them, as well as ask them to call other witches to enlist as much help as possible. Everyone who wants to fight would meet at Bekas house at 10pm to discuss fighting strategies and plans. So far, at least 1000 witches had replied and were happy to help out. Somewhere in the back of Marnis’ mind, she knew that she would be told she couldn’t fight, but she didn’t care. I am going to fight permission or not she thought as she continued cooking (using magic of course, since Marni didn’t want to poison them all with her actual cooking) for all of the guests. She glanced at the clock. 9:37pm. 23 minutes to go. Part of her was very excited to meet all of the witches, but part of her was nervous. What if they didn’t like her? Would any of them challenge her? Beka had mentioned that she shouldn’t let anyone know she was a full witch, but it was possible that some may already know since some witches can sense how much power people have.
Moving the chocolate chip cookies out of the oven and placing the next batch in, Marni pondered. Would there be any warlocks come to help? Warlocks were rare, but very powerful, maybe even as powerful as Marni if trained correctly. She’d always wanted to meet one.
10 minutes left. Cupcakes cooked with a heating spell placed on a plate. Marnis brain went into overdrive as she focused solely on the spells she was preforming. Even for someone as powerful as her, 10 heating spells and 40 levitation spells at the same time was a little difficult. Marni knew that as she got older and stronger, this sort of spell would be as easy as pie to perform in mass, but she was still only 16.
“Impressive, but I bet I can do better” She heard from behind her. The voice made her jump slightly, but she didn’t let it show. Ignoring the boy, she continued working. “You’re a terrible host. Aren’t you meant to be nice to your guests? Especially when they could kill you in the blink of an eye.” Not liking being threatened, Marni finished the batch she was doing and set them down in the lounge. Calmly she turned around to face the arrogant smirk behind her.
“You’re early. Until 10, you’re technically uninvited, therefore an intruder not a guest.” Marni replied. “Oh, and Warlock or not, you will NOT threaten me in my own home.”
The boys smirk grew “Why? What are you gonna do about it? Kick me out? I’d love to see you try, little girl.”
Marni studied her opponents face. He could be no older than her, with his defined features and slight stubble. Marnis eyes flicked over the rest of him, some muscle could be seen on his arms, but not enough to do any damage without putting some magic behind them. His six-pack was clear through his tight black top, although not overly defined. He clearly worked out, but then, most 16 year old guys did.
“Fortunately for you, it’s 10 o’clock, but for the record, I’m taller than you,” Marni stated drawing herself up to her full height, which was indeed about a centimetre taller than him “and I’m not even wearing shoes.”
The boy scowled, before smiling politely. “Can I please have a cookie?” Marni smiled and chuckled slightly.
“Sure. Help yourself.”
The boy smile widened “Thanks! I’m Jason. By the way. You must be Beka right?”
“Hell no. Bekas’ my mum. I’m Marni. It’s nice to meet you, Jase, though I do have a question, if I may?” Jason nodded.
“Are you bi-polar? ‘Cause that was the biggest personality change I’ve ever seen” Jase laughed.
“Sort of. I just have random moments where I’m a real bas-… sorry… where I’m just mean to someone for no reason. It’s something to do with being a warlock and extra hormones or something like that” Jason responded, blushing slightly.
Marni nodded. “Well, then, in that case, you can help me get drinks for everyone here.”
Jase nodded. “Sure”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
An hour. That’s how long it takes two of the most powerful people on the earth to make one thousand, two hundred and fifty nine individual drinks.
Marni flopped onto an armchair and sighed. Jason collapsed in a heap on the floor beside her legs and exhaled heavily.
“That,” He started
“Was truly horrible” Marni finished.
“Meany. You stole my words!” Jase exclaimed.
“Yup. I’m as horrible as that drinks run was.” Marni joked.
“If you’re waiting for an objection, you’re not going to get one from me.” Jase smiled.
Marni poked her tongue out at the back of Jason’s head.
"You just stuck your tongue out at me, didn’t you?” Jase inquired without turning around.
"Yup. See, we clearly have a physic connection.” Marni responded.
“If it helps you sleep at night…”
Their conversation was cut short by Bekas voice.
“This official first rebel meeting is now in session”
