Day 106

Ever heard of something called Inquiry Project in your life?

Because I have no idea what is it.

"So in year's inquiry project, our class has got China." Our class teacher says.

"We are 24 children on class, so we will have 4 groups, each group would have six members and a particular topic."

She inspects the class for a second to see if everyone is listening and continues,"Each group will have a different topic, you have to relate the topic to the subjects you have. For instance If you get agriculture, you will have to somehow relate it to history,math, geography,economics, etc."

"So you can make charts, presentation, models or anything you like. Math can have graphs and statistics, geography can have how the location helps and so on."

"You need to decorate your class to the theme, you can color the walls , hang things or do anything you want to make it look more Chinese."

"In the end you have to relate it to India and learn something from it. You can decide your groups, sit accordingly, see what part of class, which walls you want and choose your topics. It is first come first served based, so take the topic you want fast. Decide in group, plan and every week report me the progress."

"On the main day, your parents will come to see your work and teachers will too. You will be asked questions based on what you have done and given marks accordingly."

"So I will choose 4 people who I think will make good leaders, they can choose from the class."

This is kind of interesting. The walls of class have tiles all over, it's white and boring, some color would look good on it.

And who knows, I might even end up making friends?

"Adam, Mira, Rachel and Emma "

They all get up and go in front of class.

"Choose carefully, don't just choose all your friends." Our class teacher warns.

And the groups turn out to be:

(A/N not all names are important, I'll add a note later saying which are the important names. These are just the classmates.)

Group 1 : Adam's group
Ramona
Me
Ray
Eddy
Alexander

Group 2: Mira's group
Rosie
Max
Jacob
Jay
Ace

Group 3: Emma's group
Sam
Nathan
Mike
Eve
Jake

Group 4: Rachel's group
Sheena
Ammy
Megan
Serius (that's what everyone calls him)
PJ (that's also a name and that's what everyone calls him)

Our class is divided itself according to groups aloted and we have been seated accordingly.

My group got the wall and Window from the right side,  the one from where there is entry to our class. Mira's group is next to us, the have half the back wall, Rachel's group is next, they have the other half of back wall and the other window, then is Emma's group with the left wall.

~~~
I am sitting in front of the library with Katie, there is a balcony kind of thing here. I love this place. It's calm and not a lot of people come here.
"My mom and dad have inter-religious marriage, My dad's mom never was okay with it. But they got married and had me. They weren't ready for a baby but they were more than happy to have me. My dad's mom hated me for being born because I was a girl and having a girl as a first child wasn't quite accepted in India. She wanted a boy. My mom was treated like shit for giving birth to a girl but we couldn't have left old people alone. Financially my dad was stable to support us so when I turned five I got blessed with a little sister." I stop to look at Katie. She gives me a smile and I take it as a clue to continue.
"Then the Multi-National bank dad used to work for, closed. He lost his job and we had the economic problems."
"Our family was unstable. My mom started to take care of the baby while dad found new job, he used to work late hours and I was left alone most of the time."
"My grandparents liked my sister more than me, mostly because she was following my father's religion while I was following my mother's."
"I was alone and then one fine day, a 13 year old me found that mom is in hospital. She was fine but when she came back, she was depressed."
"That's when we separated from my grandparents. We gained stability, dad got promoted and hence we are in Goa. Well that's just my family background, my story is something else. This is what I told the school councillor."
"Our grandparents are similar." Katie says. I raise an eyebrow.
"My Dad's mom hated my mom. She hated the girl child even though she was one." She explained.
"Typical Indian mentality, girls aren't good enough."
"Things will change Katie. We will change this."
We smile
"Go back to your class girls, the break is over." A teacher passing by says.
Oh shit
"RUN KATIE."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I am sitting in the class. Seats have been changed according to inquiry project groups. With me sits Ramona and Alexander. Behind me is Eddy, Adam and Ray.

(AN that's Max next to Mira)

In front of us is Mira's group.

I am bored. What do I do when I am bored?

I write.

So I take out a page and start writing the ideas up.

"Emmy?" A voice calls me.

"Mhmm?

I look up to see Max sitting on a table. He looks slightly concerned. Well I don't blame him. I haven't spoken since a long time. Since break to be exact. Too lost in thoughts. I usually don't stop babbling. I keep singing or jumping or show how happy I am.

But it's weird that he is concerned.

"I hate you." He says.

I raise an eyebrow.

Why the sudden declaration?

"The feeling is mutual Williams."

He smiles and I smile back.

Ah well, let's go back to writing.

At least he could make me smile and distract me for a while.

A/N I don't know how to describe things honestly
My handwriting sucks
My drawing sucks
But you people got a basic idea of what is an inquiry project?
Is it clear enough?
is there anything I need to clarify? (Except the names?)
Tell me what do you think!
This is the longest chapter till now. More than 1000 words.
