DAY 169

From my peripheral view I see Max glaring draggers at the side of my head.

Only if glares had the capability to kill.

I resist the urge to smirk and do a victory dance.

I think his mom sensed the glare so she looked at him and raised her eyebrow.

His glare suddenly turns into an innocent smile and he waves like he wasn't planning my murder just two seconds ago.

He deserves an Oscar for his acting skills.

His mom rolls her eyes and smiles at me.

"You seem to be a great kid Emmy. Don't get involved with Max. But if you already are, don't give up soon. "

Honestly it makes no sense to me. Is she warning me away or is she telling me to be with him?

How does it matter? I wanted sweet revenge and I got it.

"Emmy, I would go home now." My mom's voice calls me out.

"You are Emmy's mother?" Max's mom asks.My mom nods."Well it's a pleasure to meet her. She is such a sweet child..." And she goes all gushing about me.

My mom starts laughing.

"Emmy? Sweet? Oh yeah. Totally."

Jeez thanks mom.

They both start chatting and I take that as a cue to leave.

Suddenly a hand grabs my wrist.

"What is my mom doing with your mom?" Max says it smiling (quite a fake smile) and just low enough for me to hear.

I smile sweetly.

"Talking." I reply in a monotone.

"I have eye too. About what?" He asks me.

I shrug.

"I hope he has done at least some work." Max's mother asks aloud.

"You would be surprised on how much he actually did." I reply automatically turning around to see the both mothers.

"He helped me too, more than he thinks he did." I say referring to the Ace situation.

I don't know what made me say it. Probably it's the fact that I couldn't thank Max directly because it would inflame his ego.

His mother smiles brightly.

"Well I am glad." She says.

I notice how he had let go of wrist and was just there smiling.

"She did a lot to. More than she could know." He says and walks away.

Okay, now what does that mean?

I smile at both the mothers when Shelley Ma'am comes and starts talking to them. I go back to the place I am assigned, to meet more parents.

I think about what he just said.

He is such a.... such a jerk. Confusing guy.

What will I do with you Max Williams?
