Great. First Barry starts screwing up with my heart, now Wells is messing with my mind? None of them, except maybe Joe, have any suspicions about him being the man in the yellow suit. I'm so alone, and Joe can't know at all about our chat.
But he could know about how Wells is the Reverse Flash...
I catch him talking to Iris at the office. He looks both amused and concerned about her replies, but slides past her. I stop him just before he can exit.
"Evie! A nice surprise," he says kindly.
"Yeah, because I work here. What a surprise," I say sarcastically. "Sorry about that. I wanted to talk to you in private. Think we can talk at Jitters?"
"Wouldn't it be better if we talk about whatever this is at the police station, preferably Barry's lab?" he suggests.
I look down in shame. "He and I aren't exactly on good terms right now."
"Beauchard! You're on for that office party next week, right? Gonna be really special," Mason winks, and it's not a sarcastic one. It almost looks genuine. Gasp. Mason's not being a fake?
"Yeah, sure," I say to him then look back at Joe.
"It's Iris and Linda, isn't it?" he guesses, then grins slowly. "I always saw you looking funny at my daughter, even when you gave her that job position."
"I don't hate her, I swear, sir!" I don't know where there "sir" came from, it might have just slipped. "I just thought for once someone would choose me first, you know? You know what- I shouldn't be talking to you about this right now. It's about something else. It's louder at Jitters so not a lot of people will be able to hear us." I'm always getting that feeling we're being watched everywhere we go.
He shrugs. "Sure, why not?"
We walk at a quick pace and head upstairs. I take a seat across from him and breathe in deeply. "Okay, I've got serious news. It's about the Reverse Flash."
His eyes widen and he leans forward. His voice becomes so soft, I almost can't even hear it. "Spill."
"It's Wells. The man in the yellow suit is Wells. He visited me one time.. and accidentally dropped information. I put two and two together and voila! Barry's been idolizing his mother's killer this entire time." So what if I stretched the truth a little bit? Same thing. Ish.
Joe puts a hand over his mouth, looks over his shoulder, then back at me. "Are you sure? I mean- this is a serious accusation."
"I swear to you. I'm a reporter, I tell it as I see it," I say.
"True. Well, we've gotta tell Barry about this, right?" he says. He takes his coat. "I have to tell him as soon as possible."
"No, Joe, don't. He'll find out on his own. Trust me."
"Are you sure?"
"Absolutely," I tell him with the utmost sincerity. "He's smarter than you think, and he's not so little anymore." No shit, Evie, the guy's over six feet with a double major, both in the science field.
He nods once. "You know, I just don't get why the guy is so stupid around you. Maybe because he's in love."
"I'm sorry- what?"
He looks at me as if it were the most obvious answer in the world. "Well, yeah, I mean he tries to make you jealous and got with Linda just to hide the heartbreak."
"Are you serious?" I pray he's not making this up.
"I cross my heart and hope to die. He'd confided in me just about an hour ago before he went out to blow off some steam before confronting Snart that he couldn't think straight unless you were there. He'd planned trying to make you jealous and he knew Iris would talk to you about it, but he wasn't.. ah.. perceptive enough in knowing it would hurt you that much."
