A guy, maybe the same age as I am is on top of me, maybe trying to give me CPR and when he saw my eyes finally opened, he stopped. He stared at me, puzzled. I stare at him back- more baffled before vomiting what I felt like gallons of water out of my lungs, I coughed so hard until my throat hurts.
"What are you trying to do?" he asked cracking his voice at the end. I tried to stand up but instead my elbows managed to hold me back from laying on the wet surface. I was trying to remember what had happened and a million other thoughts rushing into my head. This isn't hell. At least, not I expected it would be.
"Hey, are you okay?" he stares into my blank eyes.
"I-I-I'm fine"
"You could've died, you know that?" he looks down at me. I'm out of words still in shocked.
"Quitting life doesn't solve whatever problem you have"
Still speechless.
"Its how I should solve." I said him, getting annoyed by the fact that he saved me.
"Then, why are you still alive?"
"Because you saved me."
"Hey, wait, hold up." He traced my steps and grabbed my wrist. I turned back to him and stare at his grey coal eyes.
Oh, what the heck, he saved me. Wouldn't hurt to apologize and thank him.
"Urgh, I'm sorry. I'm just lost. Uhh, thank you for saving me?" I rubbed my forehead. He lets go of my wrist and hand out his hand. "Its fine and you're welcome, I'm Josh."
"Ohh, I'm Beverly."
"I see you're not from here. So what brought you here?" I could hear that he's literally emphasizing the word HERE.
"I go to a college here, taking English Literature. It was stupid. It was a stupid decision and my parents were right. I should've been what my father wants me to be.
"It is most certainly not."
"No one cares about it anyway.
No one was there, too. Oh f-" I continued, staring on the puffy clouds."Listen, Im so sorry to hear about that. Tell you what; let me buy you a cup of coffee? I want to buy this lady that I saved a drink, by no inappropriate intentions, for your information."
"I'm not sure, there's somewhere I need to go..."
"To kill yourself again and make sure you don't get save this time? No way. The only thing I know is that people gave up on you so I'm here proving that I'm not, at least that's all I could do. My mother committed suicide when I was 4, she has been depressed for years, at least there is something I could do to the people going through the same things she did."
"I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm so sorry" I gave him a surprise hug.
"Its fine... so? Coffee?"
"No, I mean, you saved me, so why don't I buy you a coffee? Or tea? I don't like coffee."
"And why is that?"
"I'm not sure. I mean coffee and tea are basically similar. Both taste bitter. But for me tea defines you, what you see through is what you get. While coffee, its just thick and you can't see through what's inside, it's like a black hole, lifeless" I explained staring into blank space.
"Urgh that was an idiot answer." I laughed, brushing off my baby hairs on my forehead as I shiver a little from the breeze blowing swiftly. He laughed along as we reach a white SUV. He motioned me to enter in as he pulled a set of keys and press the unlock button.
"Your car?"
"Nope, I stole it. Nah, just kidding, yes its mine." he stated, giggling non-stop.
"Sense of humor..." I crack a smile and opened the passenger seat door.
"I'll get you a blanket!" he yelled and opened the back door of the car. He took a blue blanket and closed the door.(Top Picture: Beverly)
