I came out, trying to hide away my tears. My parents came to hug me as I never felt their embrace before. The hugs were tight but I wasn’t comfortable because deep down I know this will only last for awhile. There’s just no expectation. It didn’t feel right enough but because I knew the hug only last for awhile so I buried my face on their shoulders before I forced to let go. My brother is now in the ER fighting for his life to survive and I couldn’t think of better person I wanted to be with as a nurse escorted me to a room where they took a pint of my warm blood, Dean. A needle is inserted into my flesh after they cleaned it with a cotton ball dipped in cooling liquid. "This wont hurt, I promise." the nurse lied- as always, inserting the needle into my skin. "It’s okay...” Dean brushed my hair in his fingers as I held his hand while my blood is sucked into a small bag labeled 'O' and my other hand squeezes a red ball. I stare up to the bag containing my blood and imagine what would happen if the bag burst to Dean's face. The bag is full when the nurse stops and my eyes focus at the nurse in dark purple uniform. She then pulls the needles out of my skin. "Ouch!" I groan in pain. "Hold still, miss." the nurse commanded, winking at Dean. He giggled a little and rubs my shoulders. "Okay, lads, there is a selection of beverages and snacks at the counter over there. We encourage our donors to relax for at least 15 minutes after donating, so please enjoy." the nurse stated, giving us a warm smile. "But if you do feel unwell, please remain seated for a while because donating blood has their side effects as well." She noted before leaving us alone. "Thank you." I said politely.
"How was it? You feel alright?"
"Yeah, Im okay." "Want to go to the snack counter? I think there's some Hershey’s and... Some M & Ms, Doritos..."
"Okay... Whatever you say."As we peered on the snacks being provided, Dean quickly grab a pack of candy and asked me to close my eyes and asked me turned around. "What are you doing?" I asked, giggled while my eyes are still dead close. "Ohh, nothing.." he said, clearly he's up to something. "Okay, now open your eyes but before that, turn around." he took a while before saying. I turned around, eyes shut, and smiling as I slowly opened my eyes. I search for Dean's face only to find out that he's kneeling on the ground with two Ring Pops in his hands. "Beverly Shrader, will you do the honors of being my partner at prom, I would be the happiest guy alive." he asked, smiling until his dimples under his eyes showed up. "Awww, he's so cute.. Wait, Beverly wake up. Contain yourself!" I mentally said to myself. I laughed a little before nodding in place. "Oh gosh, yes I do, just thought you'd never ask." I handed him my hand until he slides the Ring Pop into my slim finger and stood up. "Now or never. Now it’s your turn" he smirks giving me the other Ring Pop. I took the Ring Pop from his delicate hand and slide it in his finger. "Cool." he said, staring at the ring. I smiled but fatigue conquers me so held tight on his arms. "I need to seat." I close my eyes as we reach a chair. "Nurse!" Dean called out. "I think she needs some rest, is there..." he asked as I slowly drifted to sleep.
