Rejecting

Precisely 24 hours ago, Lixian was on his embrace, feeling safe and complete. But right now, she is alone in her home, feeling so empty and broke. She has been trying to collect the broken pieces of her heart but this just gives her another great pain, because she sees Luhan there, in every pieces of her heart.

Fall asleep is the scariest thing to do right now. In her sleep, she could meet him, in the dream. She knows it will feel so good, but when the time to wake up comes, dream will turn into a deathly venom, torturing her broken-fragile heart. It hurts her, everything is hurting her. The pain is greater than years ago when they broke up in the past. All because in the present, it's only him who decides to walk away, leaving her alone.

"I'll be right here, next to you"

His last words keep playing inside her mind, bringing pains and bitter-sweet memories. Last night she smiled for his words, but right now, she couldn't smile anymore. Lixian is too broke to do that.

One day, two days, three days, all behind her back and she survives. She starts forgetting about Luhan, never visits his Facebook page, stops stalking and stop thinking about him. All inside her mind is working, working, and working. She arrives first and comes home last, she stuffs her brain with complicated product development. She does everything just to forget him.

"Your face is pale" Suddenly Ren, her colleague talks. Lixian just stares at him with a fake smile on her face, showing him that she is alright. Well, she isn't alright. She overworks herself, she barely sleeps, she lacks of nutrient.

"I'm alright, just continue your activity" Lixian talks back.

"You look like a walking-dead" He jokes around before turns to his work.

Lixian looks at Ren blankly and turns to her laptop again. She types the last sentence on her paper and prints it. She needs to submit it to Mr. Huang. By the way, these days he kept smiling and treating her nice. This makes her uncomfortable because all this time he kept humiliating her.

"Excuse me, sir" Lixian knocks on the door as she peeks inside.

"Come in" Mr. Huang smiles to her, that creepy smile again.

"This is the paper that you asked, if you finish reading this, please sign here" Lixian talks as she points on the signature space.

"What if I didn't want to sign it?" Suddenly Mr. Huang asks. It makes Lixian staring blankly at him.

"What did you mean, Mr. Huang? This is the project that we started last year, everybody wants this to be succeed" Lixian starts raising her brow in annoyed. She knows, Mr. Huang wouldn't be so nice to her.

"I'm just kidding, calm down, I will sign it" He chuckles and Lixian secretly sighs because of his dull joke.

"But, you need to drink with me" He continues and Lixian's eyes widen immediately. Her boss asks her to drink with him, no way she will agree.

"Hm, but I need to go somewhere after work" Lixian fakes a smile as she lies to him.

"Is that so?" Mr. Huang asks as he signs the paper.

"Yes, I'm sorry" Lixian keeps her acting up, she really is scared now.

"Here" Mr. Huang gives the paper back and Lixian mumbles a thank to him before walks out in a fast pace. She feels her heart beating so fast, nervousness fills her heart, she just wants to work far away from him.

Lixian stands up from her seat as she grabs her hand bag, ready to go home. She plans to go home earlier because of Mr. Huang's terror. She just needs to reassure her safety first.
