Paige POV
I came to school and saw loads of posters pinned on the lockers, the noticeboards, the walls, the doors, everywhere. Someone came up to me and hand me the familiar poster. I looked at it.
Prom is coming!
Theme: Glitter and Dazzled
Date: 17 November
Time: 6pmHave you find your prom date yet?
Right. Prom. I totally forgotten about it. First thought that came into my mind is, should i be present during prom? I don't have a prom date. I don't have any dresses since I'm broke due to months of not working. I shall not go then.
Today, the whole school is busy preparing for prom especially the teachers. The hall is set up into a glamour ballroom. Helium balloons floating at the top of the hall. Props for photo booth at the back of the hall. Red carpet is laid out along the hallway. Everybody seems to be so busy. Me? Eye-powering.
No lesson for seniors. We are given the freedom to do whatever we want. I dialed Scarlette's number in my phone.
"Hello? Scar, where are you? Are you with Shay now?" I have to shout on the phone due to the loud booming music playing in the hall.
"Yea, Shay is here beside me. I'm at the f..." She was cut off by Shay.
"We're at the cafeteria. Where are you Paige? Join us?"
"In the hall. Im on my way to the cafe. See you girls there."
"Alright. Bye!" Then she hang up.
I walked into the cafeteria to see that both of them already sitting at our usual seats. They were both talking animatedly. Shay saw me and quickly say something to Scarlette before both of them settle down.
"You girls going for prom this Friday?" I asked once i took my seat.
"Yes of course." Both said in unison.
"With prom dates?"
"Yup." Shay said popping the p.
"Ah... I see... Wait a minute. Who are your prom dates? Why didn't you tell me?" I asked, feeling excited but irritated at the same time.
"How to tell you, Paige. You're always busy with Dylan." Scarlette said matter-of-factly, causing my cheeks to turn bright red.
"That's not true." I denied, shaking my head.
"Anyway, who's your dates?" I asked, avoiding my shyness.
"Luke." Shay said proudly.
"Luke? Oh my god! You're dating him?" Too surprised. Luke is my ex-classmate who likes to disturb Shay a lot. Hm... Luke and Shay? Yes, perfect match.
Shay nodding her head, beaming.
"How about you, Scar?" I asked Scarlette.
"Johnny." She said, shyly.
"Johnny? That smart ass kid in class? Woah you girls really surprised me a lot." I grinned.
Just then, Scarlette's phone vibrated on the table. I was about to look at the caller ID before she snatched it away from my view. She answered in a low voice that i can't possibly make out what she is saying. I looked at Shay, asking her who was it. All she did was give me a reassuring smile.
Scar ended the call and put it inside her jeans.
"Come, let's go." Shay stood up followed by Scar.
