Ayden's povI moaned as a warm soothing wave went across my belly, keeping my eyes closed when I heard voices around me.
"Is he healing yet?"
"I have to go slowly so he can heal properly, Sire."
"I understand Kareen. When he's healed, take him to see his pups and then bring him to me."
"Yes, Sire."
I heard footsteps leaving and then the soothing waves of energy faded and stopped.
"I know you are awake Ayden."
I slowly opened my eyes to see a beautiful man standing over me, his grey eyes staring down at me curiously.
"Who . . . Who are you?"
"I am Kareen, the royal healer. I am the one that delivered your pups."
I tried to sit up, but didn't have enough energy.
"I will take you to see your pups when you have sufficiently healed. You have lost a lot of blood."
"I don't understand, where is Zander? Why isn't he here?"
"I cannot talk about that. You will have to ask his highness."
I nodded, feeling even more confused, why wouldn't Zander be by my side? Why wouldn't he want to see his pups? The soothing waves of energy started again and my eyes drifted closed against my will.
"How . . . How many pups are there?"
"You have two girls and two boys. They are all healthy and strong. You are fortune that his highness brought you here in time or things could have ended very badly"
I nodded weakly, falling into a dreamless sleep.
Zander's pov
"I want to see him, Dominic."
"No."
"You have no right to keep my mate from me!"
"You had no right to mate him. Did you think Kareen would continue accepting a place by your side as your whore?"
"That's not_______________."
"Two years . . . Two full years I've let you degrade him. Two years I've watched you use false promises to seduce him at your leisure, promising to mate him only to run off and mate this boy instead."
"So that's why you went after me? It had nothing to do with my so called betrayal, you just wanted to interfere in our personal business."
"I raised Kareen from a child, he is my business!"
"Sire, he is awake."
We both turned at the calm voice behind us and I nearly growled when Kareen refused to look at me.
"Have you taken him to see the pups?"
"He is still too weak. I actually came to bring his mate to him, with your permission."
"Kareen_______."
"I am fine, Sire. He rejected me long ago."
Tired of being ignored, I let out the growl I was holding back.
"If you have something to say to me, say it to me, Kareen."
"Your mate is very beautiful, congratulations."
"Stop acting so calm!"
"I am not acting . . . you made your decision and I was not the one you wanted. Did you think I would spend my life crying over you, just because we are true mates?"
