Ayden's pov
You know the saying "you don't know what you have until it's gone"? Well Zander is learning that lesson the hard way. Yesterday, Kareen went to Alpha Dominic and asked him to find him a mate and he agreed. I had to hold back a laugh because he was watching Zander with a huge grin on his face the whole time and later that day several male wolves arrived, each of them determined to be Kareen's mate.
"Can you stop grinning like that?"
I chuckle quietly at Zander's angry words.
"Don't get mad at me, you rejected him the same way your brother did me and then you mated me and gained my trust, only to ignore your pups and me as soon as we arrived here, so sorry if I don't feel bad for you."
"You're jealous."
He smirked at me and I glared back in irritation.
"We don't love each other, Zander. You were in love with the idea of me and I was looking for someone to care about me . . . Kareen is the only one in this situation that was in love and you broke his heart to chase after something that wasn't even real."
He studied me for several seconds, like he was trying to figure out what was going on my head and I let out a weary sigh.
"I want to break our mating bond."
"No."
"I'm not your mate, Zander and I don't want to hurt Kareen anymore by stealing his place in your life."
"He's moving on, you've seen all of the wolves that want to be his potential mate."
"And you're alright with them touching him? You're fine with one of them making love to him and sleeping beside him at night?"
"Stop it."
"You're ok with him eventually falling in love with him?"
"I mean it, Ayden, stop it."
"Why? Am I hitting the nail on the head a little too hard?"
"Shut up! Just shut up, acting like you understand everything, when you don't have the first clue!"
"Then tell me . . . explain to me why you left Kareen and broke his heart."
"I wanted pups! I stole you away so we could have pups and I was going to take them from you and give them to Kareen so we could be parents! I used you to have pups!"
I could feel tears welling up in my eyes.
"So you were going to use me like I was a whore and steal any pups I had, then come back here and play happy family without giving a thought to how much you were hurting me or Kareen?"
"You just think you're so smart, don't you?! You think you understand everything, don't you?!"
"No, I don't, but I don't have to know event to see the pain that Kareen is going through . . . just forget it, I'm leaving."
"We're not finished________."
"You're the cause of all of this and I refuse to let you take your anger out on me."
"Ayden_________."
"What more do we need to take about? You promised to never leave me alone, but you were lying . . . you asked me to be your mate, but you were using me to get pups so you could take them and run back to Kareen and throw them in his face while parading around as the proud papa, you are the most selfish wolf I've ever met."
"I'm not going to let you talk to me like that."
"I'm going to go play with our pups, Zander. I don't even want to look at you right now."
