Sam POV

"Sammy!" Dean called through the door. "Wake up!" I blinked and called back, "I'm coming!" I reached over to pick up my phone and check the time. When I turned it on, I saw that I had one new text from Gabriel sent at 2:47 am.

G: wow. get some sleep sammy.

I smiled slightly as I reread our conversation from the night before. I put my phone down and grabbed a pair of jeans and a flannel. I brushed my long brown hair and shoved everything in my backpack. I walked downstairs and tossed my backpack on the table.

"Sam, you don't have to leave for another hour." Mom said, smiling. I shrugged. I guess I'm just excited to get to school, I signed. "Wow, this Gabriel must be pretty amazing to have you this happy to go to school." She said with a small wink. I blushed slightly and signed, He is.

Dean started to drive me to school as usual, but halfway there I saw Gabriel walking to school alone. I made Dean drop me off across the street from him so that I could walk with him. I ran up to Gabriel and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around and grinned at me. He pulled his earphones out and stopped to face me.

"Sammy!" He said, grinning. "You miss me already?" I rolled my eyes and we started walking together. Gabriel started over the song he was listening to and handed one earphone to me. I put it in my ear and heard the piano intro to a song I loved.

"I do not know why I would go, in front of you and hide my soul, cause you're the only one who knows it, yeah you're the only one who knows it," Gabriel sang softly, bobbing his head slightly to the music. You like Twenty One Pilots? I signed.

"Are you kidding?" Gabriel said, grinning so brightly I'm surprised I didn't go blind. "I love Twenty One Pilots!" He took out the earphones and turned up his volume so that the song was echoing on the empty street. Gabriel continued to sing louder as Screen continued to play.

"I'm standing in front of you, I'm standing in front of you, I'm trying to be so cool, everything together trying to be so cool." Gabriel sang loudly, walking in front of me and pointing to me when the chorus came on. I grinned at his ridiculousness.

We continued to walk with different Twenty One Pilots songs playing. As we got closer to the school, more people looked at Gabriel with questioning looks, but he didn't care. Gabriel continued to sing happily. The more people stared at him, the louder he was. I slightly wished I could be like him, loud, proud, and happy with who I am.

Gabriel only turned his music off when Homeroom ended, and Mr. Holmes told him to turn it off. He grinned at me as he put his phone in his pocket. I watched Gabriel all through 1st period, wondering how the hell a boy could do this to me in barely two days.

The day before school started, I was a shy mute boy with no friends who's brother drops him off everywhere. Now I had a friend, texted him at 2 am, and walked to school with him. When people stared at him that morning, they also stared at me. Usually that attention would freak me out. Now,I didn't even care.
