Marie's P.O.V

It has been a couple of weeks since Dustin asked me to be his girlfriend and we are better than ever. Dustin and I have been on multiple dates since he first asked me and I have never been as happy as I am now.

Today is Saturday and Dustin texted me at seven in the morning saying to get up because he is going to be at my house soon. I hate getting up early, so I just turned my phone off and went back to sleep. Not even five minutes later, there was a knock on my door, "Come in." I muffled into my pillow, not waning to move or be disturbed.

"I texted you to get up, so we can go out today." Dustin laughed when he opened the door and saw me still in my bed.

"But I hate waking up early. Why couldn't you text me at like noon. That's when I wake up on the weekends." I goaned into the pillow and sat up.

"Fine you can sleep a little longer, but I get to join you." Dustin pulled the covers up and climbed in next to me. He draped his arm around my waist and then I fell asleep.

                                                                                       *****

I woke up with a heavy feeling on my chest. I opened my eyes and saw Dustin sleeping next to me, with his arms around me. I laughed a little at him because he was drooling with his mouth open. With my free hand, I reached over and got out of Dustin's grip and got my phone.  I opened my camera and took a picture of Dustin sleeping "peacefully."

When I took the picture, my sound was on, so my phone made a noise that woke Dustin up. I quickly tried to hide my phone, but I couldn't hide it in time.

"Did you take a picture of me?"  Dustin's sleepy voice said.

"Maybe?" I blushed and looked down at my feet.

"Whatever, get dressed and then we can go do what I have planned for us to do today." Dustin stretched and then waved me off to go get ready. I laughed and then did as I was told.

                                                                                  *****

Dustin took me to the movie theater and we watched the new movie, How To Be Single, and it was an awesome movie. After the movie, Dustin took me to a buffet restraunt. Boys always know how to get to my heart, either bring me to a buffet or buy me food, then we are good.

As we were eating, I heard some people shouting. I didn't know whether it was an emergency or if it was an argument. I just continued eating and talking with Dustin, when I heard a gun shot go off. Everyone starting screaming and Dustin yelled at me to get under the table. We got down and Dustin held me. I was shaking from nerves and I was crying. I have never been in one of these situations before, so I didn't know what to do. I was beyond scared.

All of the sudden, I saw a pair of feet standing right next to our booth. Dustin held me tighter and we both held our breaths. I didn't know if the person was going to bend down and shoot us or what. We stayed very still for a couple minutes and then the person left. We let out a quiet sigh of relif, but stayed in our positions.

                                                                                *****

It felt like years that we have been sitting under the table. Police finally arrived and got the shooter. The police are now looking under all of the table to see for any other weapons and if there are anymore people still here. Since Dustin and I got underneath the table of our booth to now, Dustin has been holding me. A police officer checked under our table and told us it was safe to come out.

When we got out from under the table, the police officer made sure we didn't get shot or have any other injuries. Then he started asking us if we knew the shooter or any information leading up to the shooting. We told the officer everything that we knew, but it wasn't very much because we don't know that much.

The officer let us go and the Dustin took me home. We were both still shaken up from the series of evens that just happened, so we didn't talk at all on the way home. Once we got home, Dustin walked me to the door.

"I'm so sorry that happened on our date." Dustin said.

"Dustin, it wasn't your fault. Shit like that happens. It's okay." I reached up and kissed him. He was shocked at first, but then started kissing me back.

"Thanks for today, see you Monday." Dustin said when we stopped and then left.

I was so glad I had Dustin. He is one of the sweetest, nicest guys I have ever met. He was definitely a keeper.
