Marie's P.O.V
I was working on my History paper, when the doorbell rang. I ignored it because my mom is home, so she can just get it. I was typing my last sentence, when my mom called me down saying it was Dustin and his parents. I quickly finished and then shut my laptop closed.
I ran downstairs and saw Dustin, his parents and my mom all in the living room talking. There was a spot next to Dustin open, so I walked over and sat next to him. He seemed sort of nervous. I grabbed his hand and he looked up. I gave him a smile. In return he gave me a weak smile. There is something definitely wrong.
"What brings you guys here. I'm not mad or anything, it was just unexpected." my mom said.
"Well I need to tell Marie something. Yesterday at the restaurant, the shooter, well, he is, um, sort of my brother." Dustin said. I was shocked, why didn't he tell this to the police officer yesterday. I told my mom yesterday, so she knows what Dustin's talking about. "He wanted to kill me because his girlfriend cheated on him with me. It was about a year ago when it happened. He was in jail for two months and then in rehab since. He must have gotten out and knew where I was. I didn't want to tell the police officer when you were with me and I don't know why I didn't. Before I came here, I did though. I talked to the same officer that we talked to. I'm sorry I didn't just tell him up front. I was too scared to. Can you forgive me?" he asked me. I was still in shock and I didn't know what to say. I know he did the right thing afterwards, but he didn't do it in the first place when he could. But he still did it.
"Yes I forgive you." I told him. He looked up at me wih a wide smile on his face and tackled me in a hug.
"I thought this would have been the end of us." Dustin said into my ear, so our parents couldn't hear us.
"I would never do that. You told the police, even though it was a day after. You are safe and that's all that matters." I said as we got up from the ground. Our parents weren't even in the room. They were in the kitchen talking and have wine/beer.
"Oh Dustin, you and your parents are going to stay for dinnr tonight. How does spagetti sound?" my mom asked.
"That sound great. Marie and I will be in her room hanging out." Dustin then pulled me up to my room.
We got up to my room and my laptop was still sitting on my bed, "What were you doing before I came here." Dustin nodded towards the laptop.
"I was writing and finishing my history paper that is due tomorrow. I was sort procrastinating until today to do it. I didn't want to do it." I told Dustin.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk, Marie Elizabeth Taylor that is not how to do your homework." Dustin came over to me and put his arms around my waist.
"Well first of all that is not my full name. It is Marie Alice Hanes. Second of all you procrastinate all the time. More than me." I crossed my arms over my chest and got very sassy.
"Sassy. I like." Dustin's head lowered and kissed me. We have kissed before, but this kiss was passionate and more meaningful. We were in the middle of the kiss, when my bedroom door bursted open. We both pulled apart quickly and turned towards my door. My brother, Will, was standing there with a smirk on his face.
"Dinner is ready, but you guys can have a few more minutes to yourself." Will laughed and left to go downstairs. I looked at Dustin and he was looking down blushing. I started laughing and then left to go eat dinner. Dustin soon followed after.
The rest of the night, Dustin and his parents stayed. We played games; Spoons, Monopoly, and some poker. I love Dustin and his family. Dustin and I couldn't be any happier together, I hope nothing changes our feelings toward each other.
