Unfortunately, Steve hadn't been given much time after that point to spend quality time with Haleigh. The more places they infiltrated, the more bases they found. This meant more missions for the others while Haleigh recovered at home.

Presently he was in the middle of nowhere Germany and wanted nothing more than to be curled up on the couch with Haleigh watching a movie. They were getting ready to attack the base in the morning and he had some spare time. He pulled his phone out, noticing Clint, who was with him, had the same thought on his mind. He opened a message to Haleigh and sighed.

I'm so sorry I haven't been able to take you out in a month. I'd much rather be with you than here.

Haleigh bit her lip, flopping her back onto the couch as she read the message over and over again. I wish you could have waited two days before you left.

Why is that?

Because I just got approved for active duty this morning and you could have had me there with you instead.

Steve cursed silently to himself. Dammit. I wish I could have waited. Hopefully this is the last one for awhile and I can take you out to dinner again.

Date number three? :)

Definitely. I was thinking we could hit up a movie or something.

When do you come back again?

He sighed. Should be this Friday.

Tell Fury you're busy Saturday and he can't whisk you off again. I have an idea.

Really?

Haleigh grinned brightly. Really. You'll love it. Promise.

Alright, I'm game. What's this Saturday?

She bit her lip, sighing. Christmas Eve, Steve.

Steve read the message over again, suddenly pissed at himself for forgetting such a big holiday. He glanced to Clint. "Saturday is Christmas Eve? You've gotta be kidding me."

"You forgot?!" Clint asked, laughing. "Boy are you in trouble. You're not even in the states to buy anything for her."

"Son of a bitch." He growled, running a hand through his hair. "I've been so busy with all these missions it completely slipped my mind. Now what am I going to do?"

"Pray you're still alive come New Year's?"

"You're no help."

"I'm not the one that forgot." Clint mused.

Steve scowled looking at his phone as a sinking feeling grew in his stomach. Slowly he typed back, I'm so sorry. I've been so busy I forgot all about it. Please don't hate me.

She giggled softly, quickly responding. Then make it up to me. Tell Fury you're taking through New Year's weekend off and spend it with me. It's all I want anyway.

Five minutes passed before she finally received an answer. Done. I'm all yours.

She grinned brightly. Great. Oh, and when you call Tony to ask him to pick something up for me, I'm a size medium and could really use a nice dress to wear to his New Year's party. ;)
