"She needs a vehicle of her own dad. When school starts; sharing the van will just be a pain in the ass."

"I get that but I guess I figured you would be the one getting the new vehicle and then Faith could just have the van."

"She loved her little truck and I'd like to get her another one; granted a nicer one but still."

"Well, that's very nice of you Landon but what makes you think she'll accept a brand new truck from you? You know how she is about a few dollars of gas money let alone something as substantial as a truck."

"I've already thought of that. I plan on giving her the truck as a birthday present and I am actually going to find her a used truck and see about getting a good deal on it. I think if it's not brand new then she will know how much I really want her to have it. She'll understand all the effort I put in to finding the right one for her and hopefully she'll just be happy and humor me at least. I'm not stupid enough to think I can buy her a brand new truck; she would flip out if I did that." I end up chuckling at the thought of Faith scolding me; I know her well enough to know better than to push her too much.

"I'm going to get going; I told Callie I would pick her up so I'll meet you at your house." Jake says before closing my door and he returns my wave before he jogs across the parking lot and climbing into his own car. I end up asking my dad a shit load of questions about this Elizabeth woman that he's been secretly spending time with and from what he's told me she sounds like a pretty good match for my dad. She's two years younger than my dad and she is also divorced. She got married to her high school sweetheart only to have her marriage crumble six months later because her husband wasn't just cheating on her but he was cheating on her before they even got married and the DNA results on a brand new baby boy only proved that further.

Elizabeth was completely devastated by her husband's infidelity; not only because she waited until marriage to lose her virginity but the biggest kick to the face was the fact that the woman her husband cheated on her with was practically her best friend. Elizabeth has been single for the last sixteen years and the time she has been spending with my father is the most time she has spent with a man since her divorce. It's hard to believe that she hasn't dated anyone for sixteen years; I thought my dad being single for the last almost five years was surprising but Elizabeth takes the record on that one I guess. I tried to get my dad to give me some more details about his relationship with Elizabeth but he told me to mind my own business. The way he blushed tells me he's just being shy and I can't help but laugh at him.

I'm still chucking as I use my crutches to get into the house. I wait until I'm in the kitchen to try to use my legs more than my upper body to move around the room slowly. Faith is already at the stove frying bacon as I walk over to her. She looks me up and down and gives me a soft smile.

"Remember you're supposed to be a turtle now Landy." She scolds lightly.

"I know but I can't help myself. This is just too cool that I can move like this; I'm sure I'll feel it tomorrow."

"Try to pace yourself there son; I'm going to go grab a quick shower before breakfast." Dad says as he leaves the kitchen.

I just roll my eyes as I continue to shuffle around the room; feeling more and more amazed at what I am already able to do. I end up giggling in delight but I stop when I hear Faith laughing with me.

"You having fun there Landon?" She asks amusedly.

"Not as much fun as I had moving my lower body last night, hot stuff." I say as I wiggle my eyebrows at her.
