YU'S POV:
I wake to the sun peaking through my curtains. The small rays pick out the soft dust particles floating in the air around me. I sit up slowly, rubbing my heavy eyes. Something about me feels better today. I'm not sure weather it's the fact that I've almost completely recovered from blood loss, or what happened last night with Mika. If I'm honest, I'm surprised I even remember last night. I was so drowsy and dizzy after Mika knocked me out. But today, I feel better. My skin looks less pale, my head doesn't feel so clouded and I don't feel as tired as I did. All in all, I feel ten times happier than yesterday.
I swing myself out of bed and shuffle to the door. When I get there, I hear voices."But Shinoa, the last one was so fun. I bet you he's almost fully recovered anyway!"
"Do you not remember what we spent the whole of the next day doing, Mitsuba? Cleaning the house and looking after Yu after that bloody vampire attacked him! I'm not prepared to go through that again!"
"Oh come on, it was a one off. We'll make it clear this time that Mika and Yu are not allowed to be alone together." And thats when I fall through the door. I land on the floor in the hall with a bang. My palms sting.
"Yu!" Shinoa exclaims, running to my aid.
"I'm fine." I say, waving her off. "Tripped over my own feet that's all." I shrug as I get up.
"How are you feeling today?" Shinoa asks, a concerned look on her face.
"Great." I nod, a big smile spreads across my face. She looks confused.
"Are you sure you okay, Yu, you seem a bit..." She trails off.
"A bit what?" I ask. "I'm fine, there's nothing wrong. Is that pancakes I smell?" I follow my nose to the kitchen where Kimizuki is busy making breakfast. Yoichi is sitting innocently at the table, watching Kimizuki with wide eyes. I pull out the chair next to Yoichi and sit down. He takes his eyes temporarily off the busy chef to watch me.
"Hey, Yoichi." I say, waving. He smiles his innocent smile.
"Hey, Yu. How are you feeling today?" He asks. His eyes are focused on Kimizuki and the pancakes once again. It's kind of annoying that the first question that springs to everyone's mind is if I'm feeling better. But I'm glad they're concerned.
"I'm great, thanks Yoichi." And that's when everything goes silent. Kimizuki immediately stops midway through lifting an oddly shaped pancake out of the frying pan he's holding in mid air. Yoichi's eyes, as well as mine and Kimizuki's, are also trained on the tall, blonde haired, pale figure that wanders sleepily into the kitchen. He walks clumsily to the fridge, acting as though there aren't 3 pairs of eyes fixed on him. Out of the fridge, he pulls a tray full of 10 test tubes, full to the brim with a red liquid. He carefully takes a tube, pushed the tray back in and closes the fridge door. Before he leaves, his eyes rest upon me for a few seconds before guiding him back to his room. After a long pause, Yoichi is the first one to break the silence.
"Mika's back then?" He asks.
"The blood sucking bastard should know by now that he isn't welcome in this house anymore." Kimizuki grunts.
"Kimizuki! That's mean! Of course he's welcome, he's Yu's family. Isn't he Yu?" I'd been staring into space when I realise Yoichi has said my name.
"Uh, yeah." I say. "Save me some pancakes, okay?" I say and get up from the table and leave quickly before either of the can stop me.
As I walk briskly through the hallway towards Mika's room, I bump into Mitsu.
"Where do you think your going?" She says accusingly. I roll my eyes.
"You can't stop me from being alone with him." I say. "He's family."
"He may be your family, but you seem to forget that your 'family' is also a vampire." Mitsuba says, guiding me back towards the kitchen. "All he cares about is drinking your blood, and that's not going to happen. So you two are to keep your distance." She takes me back to the kitchen, where Shinoa has now joined Kimizuki and Yoichi. Kimizuki places a plate of layered pancakes on the table to accompany the many toppings arranged neatly. I sit down between Shinoa and Mitsu and Kimizuki serves us a pancake each.
"So," begins Shinoa, "after much thought and since the last one was such a success, Mitsuba and I were thinking we should arrange another party. You can never have too many celebrations after an apocalypse is over, can you?" She smiles. Yoichi and Kimizuki stare at her like she's mad.
"Don't you remember, last one we had he," Kimizuki gives me a sharp glare, "ended up giving us all heart attacks when he practically death sentenced himself."
"I DID NOT DEATH SENTENCE MYSELF. MIKA IS HARMLESS!" I scream. I know this obviously isn't completely true, but I need to defend my side of the argument.
"We'll just have to keep a close eye on the two of them." Says Shinoa. Then she turns to me. "Yu, this is very important. You have to keep your distance from Mika. I'm not reliving what happened a few days ago. Even if he begs you, your not to go anywhere alone with him, because the chances are, unlike last time, we won't be there to help if all hell breaks lose." She seems dead serious and I can see where she's coming from. I nod as a sign of my understanding.
AN: This was a very long chapter compared to my previous ones. I hope you liked it. And hopefully in the next chapter or the one after, another party will happen, and, let's just say it gets interesting...
Hope you have enjoyed so far. :)
