MIKA'S POV:

I follow Yu to the kitchen. He stumbles a bit when he walks, clearly still under the influence of alcohol. When we approach the kitchen, Shinoa and Yoichi are the only ones there. Shinoa is stood at the kitchen side waiting for what looks like toast and Yoichi is sat obediently at the table, waiting patiently, wide eyed.

"Morning." Shinoa greets us, expressionless. Me and Yu glance at each other, confused.

"Where are the others?" Yu croaks as he sits down next to Yoichi at the table. Shinoa blatantly ignores the question whilst piling toasted bread onto a plate.

"Still asleep." Yoichi explains. "You weren't the only drunk one last night, Yu. Kimizuki was pretty smashed and Mitsu was very tipsy. I think I'm the only one that managed to stay sober. I didn't even know there was any alcohol!"

"There wasn't." Says Shinoa sharply. "Someone spiked the drinks." That's when she shoots a blameful look directly at me. Me?! Why the hell would I spike the drinks. I didn't even consider coming out of my room once.
Yu obviously sees her look of accusation as he jumps on it as soon as she does it.

"He's not to blame for everything. He may not be human but he still has feelings." You can tell the energy has been drained from him because his voice is weak. If he were feeling himself he would be on his feet, yelling at her. Shinoa acts like he said nothing, placing the plate of towering toast on the table. Yoichi greedily grabs a slice, ignoring the sudden conflict. Shinoa joins Yu and Yoichi at the table as I shuffle over to the fridge to get a vile of Krul's blood. As my back is turned I hear the sharp scrapes of a chair on the stone floor and turn around to see Yu marching away. I take what I need, down the blood in three big gulps without savouring the taste, and run after Yu.
I follow him to his bedroom. He sits down on his bed and puts his head in his hands.

"Yu it's okay." I assure him gently, sitting down beside him. "It's only Shinoa. I'm used to her nasty remarks by now." Yu takes his head away from his palms, shaking it.

"No Mika, you don't get it. It's not just Shinoa. It's everyone. Every time they see you, they're judging you. I don't know if you've noticed it but I have. They come to our house, see you and this look comes across their faces. It's like a look of disgust. They haven't even given you the chance you deserve. To show the real human Mika that I know. You don't deserve to be a vampire, Mika. I would do anything to change you back." He starts to cry. I pull him into my chest as the tears spill over his eyelids. I stay silent for a moment, thinking about how to respond.

"I understand." I say simply. Then I add, "But maybe I was born to be a vampire, Yu. Krul could have killed me, like the rest of our family, when she found me dying. But she gave me the ability to live on. And it took years, but I finally found you. I got to see you again. And it's because of that that I am thankful for this life. So yeah, there's always going to be people like Shinoa. People are always going to hate my kind. But that's all part of being a vampire. And if it means I can live to be with and protect you, then I'm happy." He then brings his head up from my shoulder.

"I'm still going to change you back, no matter what you say. I may be groggy and confused but one thing I know for sure, I love you so damn much, Mika."
I lean in close to him, two my mouth is by his ear, then whisper,

"I love you so much more."
