Chapter 27: Friend Zoned

SHINOA'S POV:

I know it's going to take him a while to fully come to terms with the fact his best friend is gone, but over the last few months, Yu has really improved. He has his down days, where he mopes about the house, seeming depressed, but slowly, the days are increasing where he's smiling and laughing and joking again.
It's been five months since Mika left now, the Demon Army troops are suddenly back in training and Yu is more raring than ever to have a shot at those bloodsuckers. I admire his eagerness, despite the absence of his best friend.
I've been trying my best to be the best friend Mika was, but I think something else is making me get close to Yu. I always knew I had certain feelings for him but up until recently, I've been able to keep the, under control. But I feel like I'm taking advantage of Mika's absence too much. And I know for sure Yu will friend zone me. He's never shown any interest in girls ever since I've known him. And it doesn't take a genius to figure out what's really going on between the pair of them.

"Morning Shinoa." Chimes Yu as he comes into the garden. His cheery voice snaps me out of my daze and I realise I was sat with my scythe in my lap staring at the fence at the end of the garden. "Nice fence, eh?" He jokes. I grin at his joke and my stomach fills with butterflies. For gods sake why do I feel like this about him.

"It's great, you should sit and stare at it sometime." I say as he sits beside me. I look at him sadly and he smiles back. It's the cutest smile I've ever seen.
He nods towards the weapon in my lap.

"That seems attached to you 24/7 at the moment. Something up?"

"You never know when the vampires are coming, Yu. Always got to be alert."

"Fair enough. God, I'm so glad everyone's back in training. I can't wait to kill more bloodsuckers."

"You're just as bad as when we first met! You're never going to kill them alone!" I smirk.

"Try and stop me." He retorts.

"You're an idiot." I smile.

"You've told me that enough times." He laughs.

AN: So this chapter is really boring and short but it's more of a filler. And I don't like how I've made Yu and Shinoa sound. They sound completely different from the ones in the anime. Hopefully things in the next chapters will get more interesting.
