Aubree POV
A new semester, a few new faces, the same cranky professor.
All I need to do is focus for five and a half months, nail all my finals and I'd be sitting on a beach somewhere in Mexico in no time.
Unlike most people in the town, I didn't hate Garrison, I had grown up here.
Had my first kiss at the pumpkin patch behind the creek, learned how to ride a bike, lit up fireworks with my brothers.
Just like most people my age, I grew anxious to leave.
Most people had gotten it over with straight out of high school whereas I stuck around.
Many things kept me around town, mostly memories. The bad memories had outgrown the good ones though and I craved the day I'd graduate and and leave it behind to move on to something bigger and better.
"Ms. Andrews, spacing out on your first day already!? Am I boring you?!"
My English professor sneers.
I snap out of my toxic thinking and shake my head apologizing.
I look around and it seems as if I'm not the only one trying to block my professors words out, can't blame them though he talks slow and repeats himself.
Might as well bring a pillow, anyone could fall asleep listening to him.
It's the beginning of a second semester my freshman year at Garrison College.
As Im scanning the room the door swings open, in stumbles a guy with a Starbucks cup.
He doesn't look familiar, probably new around here. I observe him, he's cute. Tall, broad, dirty blond hair, athletic looking, and I'm too far to tell but I'm sure he has blue eyes.
I lose interest in him easily as every female in the classroom seems to drool at the sight of him and he smirks knowingly.
The professor looks at him disapprovingly and points him to sit down.
Billy, who I've known since kindergarten, signals him over and makes a big deal of introducing him as a new asset for the schools football team next year.
My stomach drops a bit.
His name is Micah. Professor King rolls his eyes and continues his boring lecture while I space out once again.
Micah's POV
Waking up was a drag this morning, I love football but not as much as I love sleeping.
I start a new semester, just at a different school in a different state.
A few months ago I came down here when I was invited for a campus visit and I loved it.
The small town of Garrison reminded my parents of where they had grown up and they decided to sell our house in California and buy the one we had now.
I didn't mind, I could admit I was a mommas boy and knowing they'd be around was somewhat comforting.
I loved the country, everything about Garrison was great. The trucks, the beer, the fishing, the shooting.
California was nice because of the beaches and the weather but my parents roots would always be where I'd find myself content.
After all my sisters had both moved away from home a few years ago, Jessica had recently gotten married and Allison was a senior at NYU.
I had met some of the guys on the football team and they had a great coaching staff I liked already.
I brushed my teeth, threw on some clothes and went off into the direction of the school.
I stopped for Starbucks to wake myself up and arrived soon.
I park and head inside but suddenly realize I have no idea how to find my class or where I could even find a schedule.
I look at my watch and see there's only 10 minutes left to get to my class, i frantically search around.
I spot a couple of girls sitting on a table not too far from me and I ask them where the main office is.
They point me in the direction and I make a run for it because of course it's on the other side of campus.
When I get there, there's a line of people who are probably in the same situation as me. I decide to calm down and drink some of my coffee, the line seems to be moving fast.
I get to the front a few minutes later and tell the counselor my last name, she finds "Adams" rather quickly and I hurry off to try to make it to class on time.
Luckily for me the class is only a few buildings down and I start running because it started 5 minutes ago.
I reach the door and walk in, suddenly all eyes are on me and I stand there awkwardly.
The old professor looks at me and points towards the seats and I quickly scatter to sit anywhere.
As I'm about to sit i turn around as someone calls my name and find what's his face? Will? Bill?
"Micah hey! Bro up here!"
I shrug my shoulders and head his way. He continues yelling though
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! I INTRODUCE YOU TO GARRISON COLLEGES NEW FOOTBALL BEAST! MICAH ADAMS!"
I snort as I head up the stairs and roll my eyes. I sit next to him and I look around to find everyone staring at us.
Including my professor who doesn't look too happy about my interruption, that I'm only partially responsible for.
I look away and notice a brunette a few rows down who stares down at the closed book in front of her. Probably the only one without staring problems.
The professor starts talking and a few minutes in I find myself bored as fuck.
His voice was almost robotic and everyone around me seemed to be typing away on their phones or ignoring him.
I force myself to pay attention, after a long 35 minutes he dismisses the class early and I almost hug him for it.
