Aubree POV
Ricky tried to walk me all the way home but I only let him walk me out of school.
He gave me a hug, told me to text him if I needed anything and said goodbye.
I walked the rest of the way home annoyed and tired. Too exhausted to even feel sad or upset about Eli and his outburst.
I had been having such a good day too. Leave it to him to ruin that for me.
I saw her. I noticed the way her eyes went wide and the way she looked down at the floor.
"Ohhhhh! Alright! So you're fucking Micah AND Ricky! Guess you have more in common with your cousin than I thought!"
Chloe was sitting at a table in the patio where Eli had caused a scene.
I saw her slump her shoulders when he said I had more in common with her than he thought.
The words had hurt her.
I was the one who knew her better than anyone else, Chloe didn't give a fuck what people thought.
She was such a bad ass with her words that if you insulted her you'd be the one leaving embarrassed after she was done with you.
The only good thing she had learned from her mom.
At least Micah hadn't been around to witness everything.
I saw him afterwards and felt relief when I noticed him coming from the other side of the school.
Another reminder of why I had to steer clear of him, I could admit it to myself at this point.
I was obviously attracted to him and he was nice and easy to talk to. I had to stay as far as I could.
I had told myself a while back that no one was allowed to come around as long as my life maintained the instability and insanity that surrounded it.
No matter how attractive they were.
I had become accustomed to being alone, I didn't mind it all that much. I would be okay, it was only a superficial attraction.
When I get home I start studying and get consumed with homework.
Until I get a text from an unknown number.
"Promise not to kill Ricky, I asked him for your number."
Confused, I read the message over and over again. I respond
"Who is this?"
I send the message and wait for the response.
"Micah. Any plans for the rest of the night?"
What the fuck, dont get mad Bree. Why would Ricky give him my number?
Why does he want to know if I have plans?
What is he doing?
I calm down and finally text back, I try to act as casual as possible.
"Drown myself in homework. Bore myself to sleep, set a few houses on fire. The usual."
