Aubree POV

Monday comes faster than I thought it could and I find myself freaking out when my alarm goes off.

I go through with my plan of sitting close to the door to escape when class is dismissed but it quickly backfires on me.

Micah walks in and spots me right away, his eyes go wide in what's surprise I'm guessing.

"Aubree-you're actu--"

"MICAH! YOU GOTTA WATCH THIS MAN HURRY!"

He seems to debate whether to walk over or not but he ends up going without another glance my way.

Okay Aubree, you idiot. Way to go. Of course you're gonna be the first person everyone sees when they walk in if you sit to the closest seat to the door.

I put my head down on top of my binder and consider hitting myself on it over and over.

Lecture goes by quickly and I run out the door, I was only able to avoid Micah because someone called him over. I wouldn't be that lucky next time.

The rest of the day moves slowly and Eli walks by with some girl who's hair is super dark.

She's pretty and I hope she runs away before he can ruin her. He sees me and drops his arm from around her shoulders.

There wasn't a chance in the world id talk to him again after everything. He was so self destructive that he didn't need my help to ruin us.

I walk by unamused and head to my next class.

When I get there I see Micah standing right by the door, as if waiting for someone.

I walk slower and hope that he'll go in before I do, when I get there he tries talking to me.

"Hey I jus-" I cut him off  though

"Micah. If you're gonna apologize don't do it. It's nothing, it was nothing. We're cool, don't made a big deal out of it."

He looks confused but he simply nods and I walk past him to go inside.

He doesn't try to talk to me for the rest of the day and I'm both grateful and sad about it.

Micah POV

It's been a few weeks since Aubree came back from her disappearance. I still haven't talked to her, the way she so dismissively told me to let the whole dinner fiasco go wounded my ego a bit.

She tried to pretend like it was no big deal when she had missed nearly a week of school because of it.

We had never been ones to stop and talk but we hadn't spoken a word since and I missed the playful banter and the eye rolls.

The way she would be so easily offended because she was so guarded about everything.

I hadn't even seen Janie in about a month.

I had texts from her though and I felt slightly guilty for ignoring them.

I told myself I didn't care, that I was fine with the few new friends I'd made in Garrison since moving here.

I walk towards the parking lot and I see Aubree walking that way as well, I'm calling her name before I realize what I'm doing.
