An Apple a Day Doesn't Keep the Avengers Away

(Early that day, still present time though)

After avoiding populated areas and any areas with shield coverage, I couldn't believe it when I stepped off the bus and onto the crowded sidewalks of New York City.  It's been awhile since I've last been on these streets.  After being in rural New Jersey, New York was making me claustrophobic.  I shuddered thinking of what would happen if I let the other guy out again.  I just need to get in and out.  Just sneak into the tower find the flash drive and get back to my research.  Oh and  hope the team  doesn't even know until I'm far far far away and long gone.  Stark if you moved my stuff I swear I will...deep breath. In out in out.  

I pulled my hood up as I neared the tower.  I felt regret fill up inside of me, despite all the fighting I missed the team.  I walked to the side entrance that no one ever uses.  Hopefully my hand print still worked on the scanner. "Welcome-" J.A.R.V.I.S. started to say.

 "J.A.R.V.I.S. I'm sorry"  As the door swung open I attached a small device to the control panel which deactivated J.A.R.V.I.S. in the tower for the next ten minutes.  I stepped inside the dimly lit hallway.  I walked to the elevator and with each step I hoped no one would be home.  Once I got inside I pressed the button for my floor. 

Ding.  I looked around please no one hear that.  It looked like they were out.  I carefully walked to my old room.  I started to push the door open but it wouldn't give. "Locked" I muttered.  I opened the keypad on the side of the door, and punched it.  Not as hard as the other guy could but pretty hard.  The door swung open.  I sighed, I wasn't sure it would work but Stark installed it for when I'm angry and can't use the keypad.  I then had pointed out that I would just break the door down but he didn't listen.  I examined my room, everything was just as I left it.  Did they even notice I was gone?   I found my flashdrive and raced out of the tower.  I fixed my hood and started to walk towards Penn station, my plan was to take the train out of the city and to Newark, New Jersey.  From there I would go to a bus station and take the bus a few miles out of where I needed to be.  I would walk the rest of the way after purchasing a fake ticket to Connecticut. 

Bam! I jumped, a gunshot!  Then a minute later Thump!   A figure ran out of an alleyway.  Mugging!  I started to run to the alleyway, then I saw Tony in the distance. Oh no please don't see me.  I hurried away but my curiosity got the best of me, so I hid in a store that had an open window facing the alley. 

"Who did this to you?" Tony asked.  

"I'm not sure, I don't remember even getting here but I saw a girl run out a minute ago," the confused man answered.  My heart was beating so fast.  I needed to run I could not be seen.  But I wanted to know what was going on.  I wanted to make sure the team was ok.  After all I did leave them.  It was for the best, I'm too dangerous to have around, you can't trust the hulk to save people.  I told myself over and over again. 

Then I heard Sam yell, "What the... Get off me!" I looked up and saw small drones flying around and attacking the Avengers. 

"I got them!" Nat yelled as I saw her elegantly shoot down each drone. Then I saw a person that looked like the mugger take off on a drone and land on the top of a building. 

"What super villain is that?" Tony asked looking after it.

"I don't know, but we're about to find out," Steve said already jumping on his skycycle.  I followed them to the building.  Crash.  A drone crashed right in front of me and started to vibrate.  I backed away slowly trying not to make a scene.  Then a hammer crushed the drone.  I quickly walked away hoping they didn't see me.  I stopped a block down this way I could still see the rooftop from here. The person easily took down the Avengers, maybe they really do need me?  When I saw the last Avenger thrown across the city something snapped inside of me. I started to grow and turn green.  NO! Stop, stop calm down.  It was too late.  I couldn't think clearly.  I had one thing on my mind SMASH!  I jumped on the building trying to crush the enemy. All of the sudden I started to feel tired and I wanted to calm down, it wasn't a big deal any more. I started to shrink down to my normal human size.  The world was spinning around and around. I saw Tony pass me my shirt which fell off in the transformation.  I shakily put it on as the world came back into focus.  I felt so tired and relaxed, what happened to me?
