SPOILERS DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK.

So I'm going to repost these as little extras for my readers.

Maxon seems panicked as he storms into my room at nearly two in the morning, knocking over furniture while he's at it.

Groaning I look over at him my eyes struggling to adjust to the lighting. "What the f*** do you want?"

"I've got a report from a squad down in Caldera. There's someone in the alleys"

Running a hand up over my face I roll over in my bed, getting a closer look at him. He's in a pair of shorts and he seems frazzled and worked up. He had obviously been disrupted during a moment with his mate.

"Why are you telling me this? You should be able to handle that yourself. Why are you waking me up?"

"It's not a wolf's scent. It's human, but not completely." Pushing myself up on the bed I look him over. Even in the dark I can see that he's giving me a look that says I told you so.

"Get him and hold him. If he fights, then the squad knows what to do." I get up out of the bed, trying to organize myself.

Maxon watches me for a second before he shakes his head and walks from the room. I don't know if he'll be coming down to the town with me or if he's going back to his room where Ellie is most likely waiting for him.

He stops just before he leaves though, and I can actually see him now with the small light from the hall. "He is a she."

"What?" My head snaps up at that. It's been a while since we had a girl be presented as a rebel.

"Just thought I'd tell you, you're not that nice to women anymore." I can hear the judgement in his voice.

"This is about Ellie, isn't it?" I say catching him just before he closes the door and the look on his face tells me I'm right. "I'm trying to fix it, I just can't yet."

Maxon only nods his head at me once before he closes the door behind him. I already have a pair of shorts on so I don't bother doing anything else before I leave the room. Getting down the first flight of stairs I look towards where Maxon's and all the others suites are. Shaking my head I continue my descent down the stairs hoping that he's spending some well needed time with Ellie.

Shifting as soon as I get out of the castle, my paws carry me down towards the town as fast as I can as the heavy rain soaks into my fur. The closer I get the more I feel my wolf wake up inside me. He's been mostly dormant for the last two years since I had killed Kaylee. All he wanted was his mate just like I do, but we couldn't replace her anymore. It was her or no-one, which was the main reason for the distance between Ellie and me.

My wolf only ever really appeared when the rebels are around or if there is a shewolf that captures even the slightest of our attention. With him emerging and how strongly he is at the moment I'm not particularly fond of meeting this girl. She could be dangerous.

As I got closer and closer to the town my wolf begins to get excited. When he howls inside me, my front legs fall out from beneath me. Shaking it off I get up and run faster towards the situation.

When I pass the main street into the town I can hear the growls of the squad that was in rotation tonight. Amongst them I can hear the high pitched, feminie screams of pain from the girl. She must have run. The sound caused my wolf to shake but my speed doesn't falter.

Now that I'm close enough I can see the wolves backing her into the wall but that's the moment when I take in everything else. The scent is human but I can also smell what Maxon was referring to. It's something that I can't put my finger on.
