When I first started this book I was ranked 919 after the first chapter and I haven't checked my ranking since. Fifteen days later aka yesterday I found out Starless child is #183 in paranormal.

I jumped so hard I almost fell off of my bed.

And also I might've sprained my ankle.

A gust of wind slapped Hera in the face, smacking her back to her senses. The creature was trembling. It's naked bones continuously rubbed against each other, making a sharp gritting sound.

"What the hell is that?", Ares asked. His voice a mix of bewilderment and god knows what.

Whatever it is, this is not the time to figure that out. She mustered every last bit of courage and strength she had and kept her legs from being rooted to the ground. Pulling Lola and Ares by their arms who were still very much paralyzed, she ran towards the stairs.

Someone screamed. An ear piercing shriek. She stopped on my tracks to see the creature's claw clutching the back of Alice's head. Alice looked at them with pleading eyes, begging for her life, begging for them not to leave her.

Hera had never see so much fear in one eye.

The creature pulled her skull, her body hung in the air like a broken twig.

Alice's feet helplessly searched for the ground.

Before she was thrown off.

Her body collided against the walls.

Crack.

Something had broken. Alice grabbed her arm as she let out another scream. It was twisted at a horrible angle. Her blonde her at the side of her head now red with blood.

The creature darted towards her with an inhumane speed. The fingers of the claw hanging from it's mouth elongated. With a cracking sound the sharp fingers became slender and vine like. And then the beast shoved the fingers down Alice's throat.

Oh my God-

Gurgles escaped her throat.

Her face twisted in pain.

Her eyes went from being wide to turned upside down and her eyeballs disappeared.

A brick flew into the creature's head, the solid bashed it's skull against the rough concrete. It's body hit the walls at the impact of Lola's blow. It pulled the claw out of Alice's throat. Blood splattered from her mouth. She tried to breath but something was still clogging her windpipes.

Her body went limp.

Hera grabbed another brick and rushed towards Alice. Alice's body was soaked in blood. Her red dress was drenched in black thick liquid that was dripping from the monster's body. Hera bent down over her, pressing her ears against her chest.

Oh God.

"She's not breathing", she screamed, "She's not breathing."

There's no time.

She picked her up and attempted to carry her. The gritting sound caused her to look up. The thing had started moving again. It's claw extended and slithered towards her like a snake.

She picked up the brick and tried to hit it but it was too fast. The fingers curled around her arm before she could dodge them.

Shit.
