"Take it off", Ares said.
A confused Lola followed his gaze and looked at her dress. "Did you lose it or something?", she said, looking like she wanted to strangle him.
"Not the dress, the sash", he said. This was the fifth time this week someone misinterpreted his words. He really should start watching what he's saying.
Adrenaline rushed through his veins. His thoughts grew more and more jumbled. Right now he had two options. The first and the most sane one was scream at the top of his lungs and run away.
The second one was being the knight in shinning armor and save Hera and later get himself killed. Seriously what the hell was he planning to do after he gets that thing off of her? Offer to give it a makeover in exchange for their lives?
"Oh", she quickly tried to untie the sash from her waist. The knot got stuck and the fact that her hands were trembling like a sixty year old with Parkinson's disease wasn't exactly helping.
"You've got to be kidding me!", he mumbled, growing impatient by the moment.
"Shut up", Lola's voice came out a lot less stronger than she intended it to be.
He was afraid too. But they couldn't leave both Hera and Alice to die.
She finally took off the sash and handed it over to him. He examined it, not entirely sure of the length. Or the strength. Or his mental state. But there was no time. Oh well, Hakuna Matata!
"Come on, help me get that thing off of her", he said handing her the other end of the sash. From what he saw the thing was strong.
Very strong.
It was highly unlikely that his and Lola's strength would be enough to pull it off of Hera. But it was worth the shot.
And to tell the truth, his biggest concern right now wasn't whether he could pull it off of her but what it would do to them if they succeed.
"What are you waiting for?", Lola's voice broke him out of his thoughts. He didn't need to tell Lola his plan. She already knew what he wanted to do.
They ran towards the creature. Ares held one end of the sash and spun it around. He flicked his hand letting it fly around the monster's neck. Lola caught the other end of the fabric and they both yanked it backwards. The sudden pull of the sash around the creature's neck caused it to jerk back as it let out another demonic growl. The monster started choking and a part of it's claw came out of Hera's throat.
That's when the scenes flashing before Hera's eyes vanished. The blinding light, the woman disappeared and her vision succumbed into darkness. Her eyes returned to their normal state.
But her wakefulness was followed by something far worse.
Pain.
An intolerable, agonizing pain that made her wish she had never woken up. It felt like her guts were being twisted and pulled. Her throat felt like as if hot molten metal has been shoved down through it. The ache in her chest due to the lack of air in her lungs grew. She gasped for oxygen but the harder she tried to breathe the more she felt like her insides were being set on fire. It's claw was clogging her throat, preventing air from entering her lungs.
