School

"(Y/N). (Y/N), wake up!" I heard someone yell. I slowly opened my eyes to see my mom. "Today's your first day of school!" She swiftly (and rather sassily) walked out of the room. I let out a sigh, but a smile etched its way onto my face as the words were processed in my head. Today was the first day of school!

I lept out of bed to get dressed. I plucked the school uniform off its hanger and took a soft whiff of it. It smelled like lavender! I quickly got dressed and went downstairs for breakfast.

As I passed my dad in the hallway he whispered, "Be careful, (Y/N). Your mother's in a mood." I nodded in agreement. If you hadn't figured out already, my mom is a two-faced bastard. One minute, she's cuddling me and kissing my forehead, the next she's forcing me to do things. Tortuous things.

I walked in and as I did, my mom pointed at me dramatically with a wooden spoon. "Manger!" she shouted.

"Oui!" I managed to peep out before nervously sitting down.

"Ne parlez pas!" she screamed. I closed my slightly gaping mouth before I began eating the overly burnt meal. It tasted awful. So awful, I almost wanted to spit it out. My mother turned around to watch the TV for a minute, so I quickly and quietly scraped the awful cuisine. I put the now empty plate by the sink. I grabbed my violin case and raced out of the house, not daring to say a word.

I live pretty far from the school, so I had been walking for around fifteen minutes before I got to Takashi's house. I patiently waited for him to come out. He did a second later and greeted me.

"Hey, (Y/N)," he said groggily.

"Bonjour!" I said. He looked at me, suspiciously before turning his attention back to the sidewalk. "Ah! I mean, hi..."

"Your mom was in a mood, huh," he said, combing his hands through his spiky hair. I nodded my head.

"It... happens..." I said. He turned to me, catching my gaze.

"I'm surprised she kept her cool around Arima and his friends."

"She actually hasn't had an outbreak in over a month, but because of that, she'll probably be like this for a while."

"Yeah. That's what I was thinking. ...Are you going to be okay?" His voice was filled with concern.

"Yeah," I said, slowly trailing off.

"Just come to my house if you need to," he said. Shortly after, we arrived at the school.

I held onto my violin case tightly with both hands. The school was huge! Kids were filing (more like piling) into the large hallways that were visible from the outside.

I felt a hand pat my back. I stiffened and turned around to face the offender. It was Takashi.

"Did you forget I was here or something?" he asked.

"N-no. You just scared the crap outta me," I said, clutching my heart like I was going to have a heart attack.

Takashi's POV

"N-no. You just scared the crap outta me," she said clutching her heart like she was going to have a heart attack. I let a little laugh escape my lips and she did, too. But the laughter died down when Arima came over. It was almost like he was metal and (Y/N) was a magnet.

"Hey, Arima," (Y/N) greeted him with smile. I felt a little twinge where my heart was supposed to be. She hasn't smiled at me once today.

"Hey, (Y/N)," he greeted back, his emotionless expression never changing. "I was wondering if I could... maybe kinda... follow you around a bit?" I looked over at (Y/N) to see pure happiness in her eyes.

"Of course!" she beamed, not noticing my infuriated attitude. "Takashi and I could use some company." She turned to me, a smile on her face and hope in her eyes. I hesitantly nodded as the school bell rang. We all dashed to the entrance.

A/N

Okay, so your mom has these massive mood swings where one minute she thinks your the greatest thing in the world and the other, your her toy. I think I mention that in this chapter, but it's really important.
