Beginning

3rd person p.o.v.

"(y/n), sweetie! It's about time to leave!" Mrs. (l/n) called to her daughter from the kitchen.

"Don't worry, Mom. We still have a good half an hour before we leave," (y/n) chuckled to her mother as she entered the kitchen. Her mother walked over and wrapped her in a warm hug.

"Oh, I know," she said, checking her watch for the millionth time today. "I'm just so excited!"

"That excited to get rid of me, huh?"

"No, no! It's more, uh," (y/n) gave her mother a playful look, "second-hand excitement. Yeah, that's it!" They both shared a laugh as Mr. (l/n) bounded down the stairs.

He gave his wife a quick peck on the cheek. "How are my two beautiful ladies?"

"We're doing just fine, Todd," (y/n)'s mother said dismissively as she walked into the living room to watch tv. The couple's relationship had always had a bittersweet touch about it, but they loved each other just the same.

"Well, you excited?" he asked. (y/n) gave a nodded happily. "Who'd you say you were sharing the apartment with? Co-pay?"

"No, Dad. We've been over this," she said with a laugh.

"I'm sharing the apartment with Kousei."

The family's minivan pulled up to a nice brick apartment. (y/n) nearly flew out of the car, talking to and receiving her keys from the pleasant receptionist. She bounded up the stairs, two at a time, to get to the 3rd floor. She inserted and twisted the key, opening the door to the blank apartment.

Arima hadn't shown up yet, but this just gave (y/n) the opportunity to pick her room first. She looked in the two rooms, one being in an 'L' shape with a two-door closet on one wall, the other a slightly smaller square room with no closet at all. (y/n) could already see the potential of the square room and informed her father of the decision.

As (y/n) watched her father and his friend move her new bed frame into her room, she heard the apartment door click. Her head whipped toward it, her eyes meeting with none other than Arima Kousei's. She grinned the biggest grin she had grinned all day, ran up and wrapped him in a loving embrace. Kousei gave her forehead a kiss before returning the hug.

"Hate to break it to you, but I already chose my room," (y/n) said.

Kousei stared in fake disbelief. "How could you?!?!" he asked, sarcasm soaking his voice. (y/n) just giggled and excitedly showed him around.

Figuring out the layout they wanted, they started moving in the little furniture they already had. (y/n) couldn't stop smiling the entire time. She had been dreaming of this moment since she was a little girl! And though it wasn't dream worthy, it was her's.

Mostly. She couldn't forget about Kousei. How could she ever forget about Kousei? He was the love of her life. They had been dating for a good 3 years now, and even though they had their ups and downs, (y/n) loved every minute of it.

After catching Takashi cheating, he had completely avoided her. He even ended up dropping out of Nishimura and taking their online classes. According to Emi's social media though, they were pretty happy with each other.

Tsubaki is still 100% supportive of Kousei and (y/n)'s relationship. She lives in the apartment next to us and is still happy and single.

As for her mother, she finally decided to get some help. She opened up to a new therapist who has helped her a lot. She hasn't had a "dark age" in maybe 5 months, and when she does get them, they're usually short and sweet.

Right now, all (y/n) has to worry about is surviving university.

a/n - this is the end of the road for my first ever story. ik this ended really poorly, and the beginning writing was terrible, but i really appreciate those who stuck around and invested themselves in this story.

if you were wondering, i took so many breaks and ended this story so abruptly because of a loss of interest. I had watched ylia in winter of prolly 2015 or 2016. as of now, i barely remember the story line at all. if i had kept the story going, it would have become a jambled mess of ideas (as it is now lol).
