Arima's p.o.v.

I was out putting my laundry on the clothes line to dry when I heard frantic footsteps coming down the street. I turned to find the source-

(y/n) was running down the street in the most heart-wrenching state. Her chest was working heavily as she struggled to breathe. Her nose was red and running from both crying and exertion. Her cheeks were covered with tear stains and the river of tears still falling. Her eyes, oh her eyes, how red they were! The look they were giving was one of pure distress.

When those eyes landed on mine, she slowed and made her way over to me. Then she broke. She broke down into sobs on my chest. All I could do was provide support. As she slowly calmed down, I brought her into my house and gave her a spot on the couch. I wrapped my fluffiest blanket around her and brought her some water.

I sat next to her and wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "Wanna talk about it?" I asked, testing the waters.

Silence ensued.

"He lied," she whimpered.

"Who, (y/n)?" I coaxed.

"Takashi." That name was laced with so much anger and hatred, a complete 180 from the usual tone. "He...," she stopped and reached into her pocket to check her vibrating phone.

Caller ID: Takashi

She quickly tapped 'decline' and leaned into me. "He's with Igawa." Harsh. No honorifics.

Wait. That name rang a bell.

"Igawa Emi?" She furiously nodded her head.

"I don't even know why I'm so angry at her. It's not her fault, it's mine."

"Why do you say that? If anything it's Aiza-san's fault for leading you on." To this, her head shook. "(y/n), believe it or not, he can do wrong. He is definitely not an angel, you witnessed it yourself. Do you think he even told Igawa-san about your kiss? Probably not." This seemed to only dampen her mood.

"He... He was like a brother to me. I thought I could trust him...."

"The brother image probably should have dissipated after that kiss...."

"You're right... but it didn't. I don't think I liked him like I like you." She always seems to catch me off guard.

"A-as a... friend?"

"No, idiot. Like, like like," she said, blush clouding her cheeks as she averted her gaze. I let out an awkward chuckle, which soon erupted into a joyous fit of laughter as (y/n) joined me.

She liked me.
