Officer Robbins waited at the front door of Brooke William's house. Her mind was in a million places knowing that Kyle had escaped and she was back to playing his games again. Flashbacks of the stressful manhunt she endured a year ago filled her mind. Could she really go through this again? With Matt gone, she was the main detective on the case and it took every bit of energy she had in her to catch Kyle the last time. He was a smart man, he would make it a thousand times harder to catch him this time around. It seemed like every officer in Colorado was out looking for him except her which hurt inside. But she promised that she would look after Brooke and Kelly since they would be more of targets.
There had been reports that Kyle had been seen about an hour north of here. Robbins had sent a few officers over to Kyle's step-brother, Andrew's, house for protection. Kyle would surely target his hated step-brother if he could. She expected an update any minute so her hand was tightly wrapped around her cell phone. She needed that call saying Kyle was caught even though it seemed unlikely.
Despite wanted to be the one who personally protected Kelly, knowing in all reality Kyle was truly obsessed with her, Brooke's parents asked Robbins if she would be the one to watch over the house at least until morning. She understood their fear and in all reality, Robbins didn't think Brooke would be the real target. She sent Dole over to protect Kelly, knowing that he was the one man who she trusted to protect Kelly since she wasn't available. Plus she knew that Kelly trusted him as well. He had truly earned that since everything that happened last year and since then he has proven that he is an exceptional police officer.
Everyone was sleeping at Brooke's house as the hours past. She sat in the living room which was the center of the house. She could see the front door, backdoor and the hallway that led to everyone's bedrooms. No one was getting into the house without her seeing. She had double checked that all the windows were locked before everyone fell asleep. Her phone started to buzz and she instantly picked it up.
"Robbins here. What's the update?" She asked frantically.
"We arrived at Andrew Olive's house and there is a problem." The officer spoke quickly and sounded in a panic.
"What happened?" She spoke, but deep down she already knew the answer to her question.
"Andrew and his family were all murdered. His wife's neck was slit open. One of his daughters was stabbed in the stomach. And his other daughter and himself were both shot and killed instantly. There was no chance of saving them but everything does look pretty recent." The officer said.
"This is definitely Kyle's doing. Still check for DNA and process the crime scene. I'll try to make my way up there as soon as I can. If this is recent Kyle couldn't have gotten too far. Have the local police start checking the area." Robbins ordered.
"I'll let you know if we have any more updates." The officer said, hanging up the phone.
Robbins was furious at this point. She should have gotten the local police out to his house sooner. Maybe she could have saved Andrew and his family. After everything that man went through, being wrongly assumed of murdered and spending most of his life in jail, he didn't deserve this. Being paranoid, Robbins decided to go check on Brooke. It was nearly four in the morning at this point and exhaustion was already hitting Robbins. She had to keep herself moving if she wanted to stay awake. She quietly walked down the hallway to Brooke's room. She slowly opened the door and peeked inside. Brooke was peacefully sleeping in her bed which surprised Robbins. This had to be hard for her to deal with but Robbins was thankful that she was getting the rest she needed.
