"Welcome freshmen! Enjoy your party!!" The president of the welcoming committee announced.
Aimee giggled. "That was fast." She commented, laughing at the short speech given.
The party took place in a high-end hotel so it was pretty nice. As of 8:26 p.m., eighteen guys asked for my number and failed, twenty one guys wanted to be friends with me but I ignored them, and almost everyone who had balls trying to catch my attention got snubbed by me.
Why is it so bothersome to be pretty? I sighed.
Aimee nudged me, "No one has caught your attention yet?"
"This party is boring." I stated, grabbing a mocktail from the waitress who just passed by.
I scanned the room while sipping my drink.
"There are plenty of cute guys out here, and I think all of them are after you." She said linking her arm through mine.
Black-rimmed glasses guy caught my attention, and I almost spat my drink through my nose. Almost.
Ew. That'd be gross.
Our eyes met for a fraction of a second then he went back to ignoring me. The guy he was talking to saw me staring at them and nudged glasses guy.
Still he didn't pay attention.
"Excuse me Aimee, but I think I need to meet someone I owe." I told Aimee as I walk towards the guy who saved my ass earlier.
I don't know why, but it irritates me when he's not even acknowledging my presence.
The sea of people parted as I walked by. Some were even persistent blocking my pathway and asking for a moment, I politely declined.
"Excuse me, can I talk to you in private?" I asked the glasses guy. His friend seemed awestruck and smacked his shoulder lightly as if gesturing for him to reply but he remained motionless not even glancing in my direction.
"Forgive him, he's just extremely shy around girls." His friend answered for him. "I'm Ethan and you are?" Ethan asked and offered a handshake. I just looked at his hand deciding on whether I should introduce myself since his friend kept on ignoring me.
The motionless guy glared at Ethan who in return held up his hand. "I'm leaving you two alone. Till next time Gorgeous." Ethan waved.
Did he know my name? Or he's just describing me?
"What do you want?" He finally spoke and looked at me. Up close, I get to see him more clearly. Gray eyes behind those glasses, aquiline nose, square jaw. I can't tell for sure but his lips looked so soft. His black hair thick and messy, I want to ruffle it.
He cleared his throat making his adam's apple bob up and down. It's enough to distract me from thoroughly checking him out.
"I want to thank you for saving me earlier." I said, unable to look at him in the eye. Why am I getting nervous in front of this punk?
That never happens. Uh-oh. I'm in deep trouble.
He just shrugged in response. "Welcome, I guess." He said plainly then left me again for the second time that day.
He didn't even ask for my name or my number. He barely glanced at me.
Because of him (dammit! I didn't even know his name) I stayed awake until dawn.
