The doorbell rang around ten in the morning. I woke up really early knowing Rhett would pay a visit, I planned everything from my casual outfit to my subtle make-up.
I went to get the door, limping on my feet. I opened the door, and found Rhett in white t-shirt and black pants, his hair was long enough to be arranged in a man-bun.
He's a total hottie just hiding in his nerdy image.
I almost sighed in his sight. "Hey." He greeted casually. I just stood there by the door frozen in place.
"Hey." I replied automatically. "Um. Come in. I heard from Aimee that you'll stop by." I gestured for him to enter inside.
He was carrying his backpack on his shoulder, he settled on the couch and pulled out some papers neatly folded from his bag. "I have the notes you missed from our class, since Aimee said she couldn't come visit you today." He announced waving the notes.
I limped awkwardly towards him, good thing he stood up and helped me sit on the couch. Holding me gently until I settled comfortably on the other side of the couch.
"Thanks." I smiled.
He seemed caught off-guard as he backed away suddenly before sitting down. "So how's your ankle?" He asked looking down on my bandaged left foot.
I extended my foot for better view. I smiled slyly as he finally noticed my legs.
I didn't wear my favorite short for nothing, just right length to accentuate my legs.
"It's less painful now." I said. "Maybe I could go to class by next week."
I noted that he looked away from my legs and gulped as his adam's apple bobbed up and down. "Well, that's good."
"You want to eat something? It's nearly lunch time." I invited as I stood up to head towards the kitchen.
"Thank you, but I think I should get going." He declined politely.
I immediately masked my disappointment with a smile as I grabbed his arm. I noted that he flexed it involuntarily at my gesture.
"Don't be silly!! You came all the way here just to give some notes, the least I could do is feed you." I pleaded still holding on to his arm.
He looked conflicted at my suggestion. He had no reason to say no. "Please Rhett, as a friend? and besides, it's lonely to eat alone." I chided.
"Alright." He sighed. I squealed in giddiness and jumped in delight forgetting my sprained ankle.
He caught me just in time, but I already felt pain jolted from my ankle.
"Ow!!" I cried as I winced in pain. He gently made me sit down guiding me slowly to ease off the pressure on my left ankle.
"You should be more careful. I've never met someone so clumsy." He chuckled teasingly. "Rest up for now."
Panic washed over me, "But what about our lunch?" I pouted. Clearly irritated by my ruined plan.
He patted my head. "I could cook, if you don't mind?"
I almost bawled in relief. The only thing I mustered was a weak nod to him. He smiled reassuringly at me.
My heart was beating faster, this was different from the giddiness I felt earlier.
Not good.. I'm falling harder than I thought.
