The nurse in the clinic helped me elevate my left foot and put some ice bag in my ankle. Rhett narrated what happened while the nurse took notes.
"Are you her boyfriend?" The nurse inquired.
"What? No." He said defensively. My head hung in his response.
If it was another guy, ANY other guy, who's in his place right now he would probably boast about this and falsely admit to being my boyfriend.
He's just so different. I don't know how to deal with him.
The nurse whose name tag indicated she's Janelle noticed my reaction, and I think she somewhat perceives the situation asked again. "You are her what?"
Rhett took his time to answer and looked at my direction, "I'm her.. um.." He stuttered a bit.
"He's the one who rescued me plenty of times already." I supplied for him.
He looked a bit embarrassed by what I've said. I couldn't really say he's my friend cause I don't know if that was what he really thought of me.
I wonder what he thinks of me.
My prayer just got answered. "I'm her classmate and we're from the same club." He informed.
Nurse Janelle just raised an eyebrow. "Uh-huh. Wait for the doctor to see you, I notified him already. He's on his way now." She said to me.
Then she turned to Rhett, "The classmate and clubmate could wait outside."
Rhett obliged and went to the lobby of the clinic. "Why are you so harsh on him?" I asked curiously as soon as Rhett was out of earshot.
"Not my damned business but, a guy as dense as him? You'll end up being hurt hun. Find another guy, I'm sure there are plenty of them just waiting for their chance." She said, voicing her opinion.
I was saddened by her explanation. "What can I do? I like him that much."
She then gave me her sweetest smile. "If you really like him, I'm sure that that pretty face of yours will do."
I don't know if I'll be insulted or what. "Just a pretty face won't do. I even follow him around!! And to think I'm the one who's always being chased. Now, I'm the one who's chasing." I complained.
She chuckled, maybe she found something funny in my story. "Why don't you try the most basic and simplest form of a relationship? Be friends with him first." She advised.
Befriend him. My heart aches hearing the word 'friend'. It's almost the same as being in the friendzone.
Is this my karma? I know I've put a lot of guys in that 'zone' and used them as a commodity rather than a friend, but Rhett is different.
I know that deep down. I really, really, really like him.
I don't wanna be friendzoned. *le sigh* But if I wanna be close to him, I might as well try being a friend.
"Thanks for the advise." I smiled weakly.
She gauged my reaction, "The most beautiful thing about friendship is that it could blossom into love." She winked.
"I'm gonna go and see if doc has arrived. Rest up hun." Nurse Janelle left. That nurse made me think about friendship as a good idea. A soft knock distracted me from forming another great plan to get Rhett.
"She made me stay with you while you wait for the doctor." Rhett appeared.
I smiled at him, "Maybe she thought I needed a friend."
