"Man is not what he thinks he is, he is what he hides" - Andre Malruax

Bella Pov

Its been five hours since I've escaped that compound and Ive been running ever since.

Since I left , I had traveled through several states. Apparently under Maria's orders, Riley took me from the alleyway in Florida and brought me to their base in Fort Worth, Texas.

So I headed North. I just ran in that direction, staying in deserts and isolated areas so no one could see me. I had made it to the edge of Utah when I decided to take a break.

It wasnt that I was tired. Half human or not, I still got hungry as my stomach growled out loud. I knew I would be blushing if anyone else was around to see, as I grabbed my stomach in hopes it would stop growling. It was then that I noticed my appearance.

I wore a tattered, burnt hospital gown that left very little to the imagination. My feet and legs were caked in the dry blood that leaked from my cuts that healed very quickly. My hair was a birds nest with dust and sand coating its shine making it look light brown, instead of its ebony color.

"There is no way I could go into town looking like this." I thought.

I am on the outskirts of a small town looking down from a cliff top.

I sigh. What am I going to do? And now that I think about it, where am I going to go? This entire time, I had been running blindly heading towards the only place that I could think of that could offer me help; Forks .

But the only people that could help me left me long ago, not that they would want to help in the first place.

There was always the wolves but after what happened with Jacob, im sure there was no hope there. If anything they would kill me instead of helping me.

And Charlie. No I couldn't do this to him.He had been through enough, without me adding more drama to his life.

I walked closer to the edge of the cliff, gazing at the night sky as small tears brushed against my cheek.

I really was alone.

I was so lost in my thoughts and watching the stars, that I didn't even notice the sounds of soft footsteps as they crept behind me.

"Dont do it" a deep husky voice broke the peace of the night air.

I turned around quick, getting into the crouching position to attack when I stopped.

There standing along the cliff with me, was a man, an extremely attractive man. He was tall standing at 6'4, with a body that would make even a nun blush. He was gorgeous; a mane full of jet black hair that was touseled in a windblown kind of way. Pale pink lips that were surrounded by a 5'o clock shadow around a strong jaw line. His nose was straight, witha bump on the ridge indicating that it has been broken once. His skin was copper, making me think he had native american in him. and last but not least were his eyes, a deep brown they seemed to glow from some inner warmth hidden inside him.

He quirked an eyebrow and I immediately blushed, embarrassed at my blunt actions of checking him out and trying to attack him.

I straightened myself out.

"Um hello" I said. I was surprised to find anyone out here with me, especially someone that looked like him.

"What are you doing out here? " his voice drifted through the air.

Though he was asking a question, I couldn't help but to notice the slight demand in his tone, as if he expected an answer. I was immediately on the defense.
