Mother

I grabbed Carters hand as we walked out of the woods and said "Okay we're almost there.  Do your best not to let her get to you."

"Get to me? What do you mean get-" Cart said but was quickly cut off by a tree picking him up off the ground and waving him around.

"Really Mom" I shouted. "Put him down!"

She showed up besides me and pouted.  "But I'm having fun."

Scowling I said "Well I'm not mate bond remember.  Also he isn't an elf so you don't need to test his nature abilities."

"Fine" She told me and Carter fell down and landed with a thump.

He came up next to us and looked at my mom asking "Ma'am if I may ask why did you have the tree do that?"

My mother looked from him to me then nodded and said "I like him Jordi you can keep him."

Under my breath I mumbled "I was planning on it."  While my mom turned to Carter and answered his question.

"Well I forgot that you weren't an elf so I did a traditional test of power.  The male elf is supposed to manipulate the plant into doing what he wants.  In this case it would be releasing you."

Carter nodded and my mom said "Now come on in. It's time for dinner and I made some venison (deer)."

"I thought Elves were vegetarians?"  Carter said with a puzzled expression on his face.

"Usually they are." My mom answered.  "but usually Elves don't raise half werewolves."

Carter laughed and said "That's some sound logic."

We sat down at the table and my mom brought over the food.  After we finished about half an hour later we went into the living room and put on a movie.  I cuddled up with Carter and put my head on his chest while he and my mom talked about certain nature spells.

AS I drifted off to sleep I heard my mother say "Carter come here."

He moved my off of him and planted a kiss on my forehead before walking away to speak to my mom.  I grumbled before I drifted off into a peaceful sleep.

Carter's pov

 I kissed Jordi's forehead and walked around the corner with Jane. 

"Yes?" I asked as politely as I could while I was away from my mate.

She reached in to her pocket and pulled out a engagement ring.  It was silver but had a gold top with a diamond in it.

"This was my mother's." She told me.  "I want you to keep it for when your ready to propose to my daughter.  While I don't expect it to be soon when it happens it better be with that ring."

I took the ring from her hand and said "It will be.  Thank you It's beautiful  I'm sure she'll love it. Although it will at least be a couple months before she gets it."

"It better be" She told me glaring. "I taught her not to rush into things. "

I was about to reply when my phone chirped.  I checked it and saw it was a message from the council.

I told Jane we had to go and she sighed.  "go on then" She told me.

I smiled and picked Jordi off of the couch carrying her to the car. It was time to get back to work.
