Chapter 28

"I'll be right there".

I rolled over to look at Keith. He was standing by my window, looking out onto the back. The sun was shining on his face making his freshly tanned skin glow, his blue eyes were darker. I sat up, "Babe?" I mumbled, my voice groggy. He threw his phone in his pocket and looked over at me.

"Hey Spunky, I have to get going" he said coming over and climbing onto the bed. Holding himself up on his arms he pressed a small kiss to my lips, before I could open my mouth to him he was off. I sighed asking, "Where to now?". His quick and distant behavior this past week was making me feel more and more uneasy. "My boss called, said he needs me to help him bring some parts to the garage for the end of Summer" he explained, he avoided eye contact and I frowned at the action.

"Okay? Will I see you later?" I asked already feeling the disappointment of his answer."I'll try Spunky" he said grabbing his jacket, "I love you" he whispered before leaving through the door. "And off he goes again" I said to the empty room.

I climbed out of bed, walking into my bathroom. My muscles weren't so sore anymore, and walking was so much easier. I poured myself a hot bubble bath and threw in my Lush bath bomb. When I sunk into the scolding water, I moaned in pleasure as the water hugged my body. My muscles relaxed, the irritation fading. I let my body soak for at least an hour before I finally washed myself and climbed out. I put my hair up and padded over to my dresser. I chose a pair of matching undies and pulled out my cropped wonder woman top wiggling into my gray sweatpants. I didn't bother with make up, I will most likely be staying at home all day.

Keith and I barely spent any time together, when we did it was distant most of the time. He avoided certain topics and when we made love if felt as if he was holding back something. Like he was there physically with me but mentally he was far away. I felt the need to tell him that no matter what he's hiding I won't give up on us. Maybe I could finally tell him I loved him but the opportunity never came up. There wasn't a perfect moment for it, I didn't want him thinking I was just saying it to get him to speak.

I made my way downstairs, the smell of vanilla hitting my nose as I entered the kitchen. My mom was wearing a white flow dress that reached the floor, she was pulling out a tray of muffins from the oven. I smiled and walked over to the fridge, I located my OJ and drank straight from the bottle.

"Oh hey baby" mom said when she looked up and saw me, I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand. "Morning Mom" I said, she looked around, "I made these for your brother, they have chili powder in them, I made a separate tray for you" she whispered. I chucked, Drew hated spicy things. "and why are you doing this to him?" I asked. Her face went blank, "I'm bored" she shrugged. I stared at her, and she at me. Silence hung in the air as we stared at each other, soon I burst out laughing and she joined me. I could swear I had the weirdest mother on earth. I was the luckiest child ever.

Eventually Drew dragged his ass downstairs with Sen following behind him. "Hey girl" I said to her, she smiled, "ey yourself". Drew's eyes found the muffins which were displayed on a plate, he snatched at it and took a huge bite from one. He chewed and we watched excitedly. His eyes went wide and he began spitting, waving his hands around frantically. Mom and I clutched our stomachs as laughter erupted from us. Sen watched horrified as her boyfriend turned the brightest shade of tomato red, "What the fuck is going on?" she exclaimed, I wiped away my tears of laughter.

"Mom put chili powder in those, especially for Drew" I informed her. She looked wide eyed at my mom who was still recovering, "Pam? Of all people you" she said shaking her head at my mom. "I'm sorry Sweetie, I was just so bored and Dawn was asleep" she raced to her defense. When we heard a loud yell from Drew we went quiet, "What the fuck is wrong with you mom? Why couldn't you prank Dawn instead?" he ranted. Mom arched her eyebrow at him, "She's my little baby, why would I do that to her?". I stuck my tongue out at Drew and he glared at me.
