I turned my body over and pinned Joe to the ground. "Leave me the fuck alone!" I screamed, punching him in the face. He groaned and I got off him. I then took him by the shoulders and pushed him backwards, making him fall back into the woods. I then saw Sal and I ran...again. I could feel him on my heels and then I felt him grabbed me around the waist. "Let me go! I need to get away! I don't wanna hurt you!" "Haley, shh. Calm down. It's alright. You'll be fine," he soothed. "I'm a monster, Sal!" "No, baby, you're not. I know how to fix this. Remember I did." I started crying and fell limp against him. He turned me around, so I was looking at him and he looked in my eyes.

I looked away, hating the eye contact. "Let me see." "You know I hate eye contact!" "Calm down and breathe. I need to see your eyes." I looked at him and he sighed. "What?" "They didn't change back." "What!?" "They're supposed to change back to brown. That's how it was for me...unless yours are becoming permanent." "See! I could hurt you! I'm becoming a fucking demon!" "Sweetheart, relax. Everything will be okay. Now come with me, so we can fix this."

I started crying and he hugged me tightly. "Everything will be okay one way or another. I promise." I looked at him and he brushed his hand across my face. I sighed and grabbed his hand, which was soft and warm again. He smiled at me and took my sweatshirt from my hand. He walked with me to the passenger seat and helped me in. "Lean your head forward a little." I did as he said and he put the sweatshirt back. "Here, you might want this," he said throwing my phone at me.

I was actually surprised the screen wasn't cracked. "How far did I go?" I whispered. "About 500 miles, more or less." "That far?" "You did run." "I didn't want to hurt you or Emily." "Babe, I know you don't. Trust me, I've been there." I looked down and I heard him turn the radio on. The song Youth was playing and I smiled slightly. "My youth. My youth is yours. Trippin' on skies sippen' waterfalls. My youth. My youth is yours. Run away now and forever more. My youth. My youth is yours. The truth so loud you can ignore. My youth. My youth. My youth. My youth is yours." I looked at Sal and he smiled at me. "You know this song?" "Of course I do. Don't you remember? I went to one of his concerts with Kerri." "Oh, how could I forget? Even Murr loved him."

Sal laughed and held me around the shoulders. "Are you scared of me?" I questioned. "Honestly, I'm terrified, but I'm not running from you. I'm here to help you." "So basically how I felt about you, just flipped." "Yeah. I'm not gonna run from you though. Whatever that thing is, I'm gonna get rid of." What I wondered was why he never left me after being married a year and a half ago. Yes, we met in February of 2012, but still. Of all people, me? There were so many girls who wanted to marry him.

He was such a sweet person and cared so much about me, I feel like I did nothing for him. I sighed and looked at my phone, turning it on, and seeing the picture of him and me meeting. It is was 7:16 am. I ran a lot since 11:00 yesterday night. I eventually fell asleep against Sal and had nothing to dream about or so I thought.
