Haley's POV
I was trying to be quiet and pack a bag. I grabbed my daughter and climbed out the window. I looked down which wasn't a good idea. This isn't safe. I breathed through my nose and carefully climbed down the fire escape. I couldn't go back to Sal. Especially with Emily. I knew one person I could go to. Joe Gatto. I quickly got on a bus to Long Island and called Joe. "Hello?" "Joe help me." "Whoa, what's wrong?" "Sal found me. Please help me." "Where are you?" "On a bus to Long Island." "I'll meet you at the Starbucks by my house." "Okay. Thank you so much, Joe." "Anything for you." I smiled a little, "Okay I'll see you then. Bye." "Later."
I hung up and held Emily close to me. I felt bad for running, but I couldn't let her near Sal not knowing what he'll do. I wasn't taking that risk. I almost lost her when I was in a coma because I wasn't even awake and I wasn't going to lose her to Sal. I missed him, yes, but I don't know if he's changed. I closed my eyes and cried. Sal had a right to see her. He is the father. I sighed realizing that it was only 2 weeks until my birthday. That meant there were 2 weeks until our anniversary. I will be 20 and Sal will be 21 in November. I really couldn't cut him out of my life because he saved my life today and other times.
I looked out the window and realized we were in Long Island. I quickly got off the bus and looked for Joe. "Haley!" I heard him call. I turned around and there he was. I side hugged him and was glad to be in his arms. He wouldn't let anything happen to me or Emily. I knew he wouldn't. Joe took my bag and lead me to his car.
"So how's life?" Joe asked. "Well, I mean it's not perfect, but it's not bad. There's only one thing missing." "And that is?" "Sal," I sighed. "So why did you run from him?" "I don't know if he'll hurt Emily. I'm not risking her life for my happiness. I'd do anything for her. It's just that Sal was always there to protect me and now I'm running and don't want to be." "So let me talk to him." "Call him." Joe sighed and pulled out his phone. He typed Sal's number and held his phone to his ear. Joe then put his phone on speaker and I shook my head in disappointment.
"Hello?" "Sal, it's me, Joe." "Hey what's up?" "Nothing really. I just wanted to know if you want to meet up." "Um...Well, not this week because I found Haley today and I lost her again. This is hurting. What I did was wrong, but if she would let me explain she would understand." "Sal, I know that Murr leaking your number pissed you off and everything, but you had no right to flip out on Haley." Wait. Murr leaked Sal's number? "Don't forget that TruTV pissed me off too." "Yeah yeah." "I just want to apologize to her. I miss her and I don't think I can survive another day without her." "But Sal remember you're a father now. She doesn't trust you around your daughter." "Wait. How do you know?" "She called me earlier and explained everything."
How was Sal not surviving without me? I'm nothing special. Hell, why did Sal ask to marry me? "Do you know where she is?" Joe looked at me and I shook my head. "No, she never told me where she was or where she was going." "Joe please help me. I don't want to lose her again. She means the world to me." "Of course I'll help, Sal. She's one of my best friends." "I appreciate this a lot. Thank you." "No problem." Joe hung up and looked at me. I sighed and tears ran down my face. "He misses you. You need to talk to him." "Not now. Just give me at least a week." "I'm giving a week. Nothing more." "Thank you. Now about what pissed him off?" "Murray leaked Sal's number because Murr got pissed at him for something. Then TruTV is trying to sue Sal when in reality they should be suing all of us. What Sal did was wrong, but you not telling him the day you found out you were pregnant was wrong too."
"Joe, I couldn't tell him. I was too scared. He threatened me about it like a week after we were married." Joe sighed and pulled into his driveway. He grabbed my bag and walked inside. I grabbed Emily and followed him inside. Joe was on Twitter and he groaned, "What did he do?" "Who did what?" "Sal." "Let me look." I walked over to Joe and my mouth dropped. He. Dyed. His. Hair. Blonde. Oh hell no.
