The next morning I woke up with a bad headache. I took two pain killers with my morning coffee and spent the day wrapped in a blanket on the porch reading Allegiant.

These were my favorite days, ever since I was little I loved to read and write. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed playing outside too but reading let me escape what was going on and could transport me to another world.

The first book I ever read was The Cat In The Hat. After months of my dad reading it to me while I was perched on his knee I was determined I was going to learn how to read.

My dad spent an hour every night sounding out words with me, being that I was only four it was a struggle. One day I read the whole book, my dad celebrated by bringing me to the bookstore and telling me I could pick any book I wanted.

Browsing the sections I stumbled upon a book that had similar drawings and rhymes. "One fish, two fish red fish blue fish." I read. I jumped with joy, sure that this would be my selection.

I left the bookstore that day skipping along singing. My love for books hadn't died, just put aside for the moment as I got into sports.

The sound of a light rain started to fall on our roof and the pavement. Rain, my favorite weather.

I enjoyed another ten minutes of reading until I decided to go inside. Sliding the glass door I gripped my book close with my blanket draped around my shoulders.

This morning my aunt, Brandon and I had a short reunion breakfast. I didn't feel like eating but I sat and talked to them. Sherri told me about the alligator that had been in the road in her town. Also about her regular visits to Sea World, and the beautiful weather they had.

Sometimes I'd worry for my aunt ever since her kids moved out and uncle Rick died she had been living alone. But she always had a smile on her face and would find the brightness in every bad situation.

I made my way upstairs and started getting dressed. My parents decided that we should go out to eat to celebrate winter break. They usually celebrated anything, even the little things. When Brandon was in the Lion King play in the fourth grade we all celebrated by ice skating and pizza. Every report good report card we got was a ticket to going bowling or a movie.

After a quick shower I changed into some light jeans and a pink sweater. Not bothering with makeup today, I straightened my hair and put on my white converse.

I trudged down to the living room where I waited on the couch.

People had been posting pictures from the party since yesterday. The ones I was in wasn't too bad, although I do not remember posing for them.

I liked some of them and kept scrolling. "Hey sis." Brandon said coming into the room.

"You feeling alright?" He asked. I shrugged my shoulders. Honestly my head hurt like a bitch and I wanted to throw up and take a nap.

He placed the back of his hand onto my forehead. "Man you're burning up." He said. I shrug again.

"You want me to tell them that you're sick so you won't have to go out?"

I shake my head. "No I'm fine." I say, my voice sounding scratchy and weak. Taken back from my voice I cleared my throat.
