0.1 Crush

"Nah, I cant come tonight. Im hanging out with Ethan again." I say over the phone to my best friend Abby.
I put the phone in between my ear and shoulder as I put a pepperoni pizza in the oven. "Oh okay, I'll call you later." She replies.
"Okay, bye Abbs love you." I say then hang up the phone.
My other best friend, Ethan was coming over in 30 minutes we were gonna watch a movie and play some board games.
Right after I set a timer on the oven, I sprint up the stairs to get ready. I quickly change into jeans and a black crop top. Then I brush my hair and quickly brush my teeth.
I then, walk down my stairs, into my kitchen right as the timer rings. I cut oven off, grab two oven mitts and take the pizza out.
Just as I sat the pizza on a cooling rack the door bell rang. Knowing that it was Ethan, I ran to the door. Just to double check, I looked through the peephole. Through the small circle I saw Ethan, I smiled then proceeded to open the door.
"What up Hay?" Ethan said right as the door opened, I laughed.
"Whats up Eath?" We both laughed and side hugged.
Just as I was about to shut the door, Ethan's brother Grayson came in. "Woah there princess." He remarked as he entered my house.
Grayson, and I hated each other, Ethan knew this so at this moment I was very confused as to why he was in my house.
I grabbed Ethan's arm as Grayson flopped on the couch. "What the hell Ethan?"
He sighed. "Im sorry, I told him not to come, but he insisted. He just wants to make you mad I guess."
I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms. Grayson had took the middle seat of the couch. Leaving the two seats beside of him, which I was not going to take so I was going to sit in the chair.
But before we sat down we both went to the kitchen to get our pizza. Grayson followed us into the kitchen.
I was so annoyed at him. I got down only two plates and handed one to Ethan before getting a slice of pizza.
I turned to get my drink and saw Grayson in front of me with a sly smirk, I rolled my eyes and continued to get a can of Coke out of the fridge.
As I returned to the living room I sat down my plate and drink on the coffee table and started to put in the movie.
"What we watching?" Ethan asked as he sat on the couch.
"Up." I say grabbing the remote and going back to my seat.
I press play and pull the blanket from behind me to cover me. Then I start to eat my pizza.
Grayson hadn't been as much as a jerk as normal. But I figured he had something planned up his sleeve.
Thankfully Ethan was on the side of the couch closest to me so every once in a while we'd talk about something going on in the movie.

After the movie like usual we played board games. Ethan took no time to get out Connect Four, which was his favorite.
I laughed and got the chips organized. We both sat down at the coffee table and started putting the pieces together.
"Hey guess what?" Ethan says gathering the black chips to him.
"What?" I ask taking the red chips.
"Well I may have mentioned to Paul Jackson that you might have a thing for him." He says almost too fast.
"What?!" I say almost choking on my drink. Paul was my crush and has been since the sixth grade.
"Yeah, and he told me to give you this." Ethan says, extending his hand to give me a small green piece of paper.
I stare down at the ten digit phone number, "Oh my god Ethan thank you so much." I say before giving him a huge hug.
"You're welcome." He says with a laugh.
We then stop hugging and start playing connect four.
Ethan puts his chip right in the center, then I put mine beside it.
"Gotta pee." Ethan says before getting up and running towards the bathroom
"You really like Paul?" Grayson says, startling me because I forgot he was there.
I scratch my head. "Um yeah." I say awkwardly. Usually we couldn't talk without biting each others heads off.
He snickers. I roll my eyes and start thinking of my next move in connect four.

After about an hour of random board games Ethan announces that they've gotta get home. I nod an get up to start to clean up.
"Bye Hayden." Ethan says coming over to give me a hug. "Peace out girl scout." I say giving him the peace sign. He laughs. "See you tomorrow."
After they leave I start picking up the room and washing dishes.
When the house finally is clean I go upstairs to take a quick shower, brush my teeth and then go to bed.

I woke up at regular, 6:30 am for school. My phone dinged and I saw a text from a new number.
P: Hey is this Hayden, this is Paul btw.
My heart skipped a beat or two and I quickly replied.
H: Yes, Ethan gave me your number last night but I never got the chance to text you.
I finished typing and went to get some clothes from my closet. Today I was going to have to dress nicer, Paul was probably going to talk to me and I didn't want to look bad.
I found some dark jeans and a light pink lace top. Rarely, I wore makeup but today I decided to wear some eyeliner and mascara. After that I straightened my hair, brushed my teeth, and put on my white converse.
"Hayden breakfast!" My mom called from down stairs.
I grabbed my phone and backpack, then dashed down the stairs.
My mom had put a plate of eggs and toast in front of me right as I sat at the counter. Paul had texted me as I took my first bite of toast.
P: No worries, i'll see you at school!
I smiled and quickly replied an 'Okay'.
"Who's got you smiling?" My dad said coming in with his cup of coffee.
"No one." I said sheepishly. He winked at me before going over to my mom to give her a kiss on the cheek. Typical american dads. "Bye girls I'm off to work!" He calls before giving me a hug and then exiting the house.
I scrolled through Instagram as I finished my breakfast, then my mom announced that it was seven-twenty and time to leave.
I took my bag and phone and went out to the car. As soon as I got in the car Stitches by Shawn Mendes was on and I squealed then sang along to the song.
My mom laughed and shook her head as she pulled out of the drive way and onto the main road. After the song went off I turned the volume down.
"Hey are we still getting aunt Sherri from the airport Friday?" I asked scrolling through twitter.
"Yep." My mom said not taking her eyes off the road.
My aunt Sherri always came up from Florida to New Jersey every year, one week before Christmas. She usually stayed till the day after New Years.
Our car turned on the road that my school was on and I started getting ready to get out.
"Bye Mom, love you." I said, unbuckling my seat belt and getting out of the car. "Bye Hayden love you, have a good day." She said waving.
I waved back and started strolling into the school building. As I was staring down at my phone and walking I bumped into someone.
I looked up to see Grayson. "Watch it Smith." He said coldly. "Shut up." I snapped. He rolled his eyes and walked back down the hallway.
We didn't really have a reason to hate each other, we just always have since elementary school.
I got to my locker and started turning my combination as Abby walked up beside me. "Hey girl." She said casually.
"Hey guess what!" I said turning to her and smiling creepily.
"What?"
I got out my phone and handed it to her to read the messages. After about ten seconds she squealed.
"Oh my gosh thats amazing!" She yelled taking my arms and jumping up and down. I jumped with her for a little bit then we stopped and acted casual.
"So what are you going to say?" She asked.
"I honestly don't know, I'll probably freeze up." I confessed putting some books into my locker.
"I would too." She says running her hand through her hair.
"Well I gotta go to class." I say shutting my locker. "Bye girl text me updates." She says giving me a side hug. "I will." I say. Then we both part ways to first period.
I make my way to my seat in the back of the middle of the class and sit down. After about 10 minutes, my teacher enters the class and it starts. He goes on talking about Issac Newton for what seems like forever, but finally the class ends.

(Lunch)
It was lunch time at about one and my next class was with Paul. I was so nervous. "Hello earth to Hayden." Ethan said waving a hand at my face.
I blinked rapidly and shook my head. "Sorry." I said before taking my plate from the lunch lady. I grabbed an apple and headed to the table.
"Hey are we still going to the movies Friday?" Ethan asks taking a bite out of his pizza.
I nod. Wait Friday were getting aunt Sherri. "Oh wait, sorry. I cant go Friday."
"Why?"
"I gotta pick up my aunt from the airport." I say grabbing my apple.
Ethan nods and continues to eat his pizza.
"Hey last night you and Grayson didn't fight like normal, is something going on between you?" Ethan asks wriggling an eyebrow and creepily smiling.
I quickly shake my head. "No, we definitely still hate each other." I say taking a sip of my water.
"You sure, because he was kinda staring at you a lot last night."
"What do you mean?" I ask quite confused.
"Well he did lean to look at you a couple times during Up, and did you see the look on his face when I mentioned Paul?"
I shake my head.
"He looked as if someone had ran over his puppy or something."
I laughed. "Shut up."
He chuckles. "But for real I think he might have a thing for you."
I shake my head. "Nah."

My next class I have with Paul and my palms get sweaty as I walk down the hall. I make it to the class and take my seat which is right behind were Paul sits.
After about five minutes my blonde crush, Paul comes in and takes his seat in front of mine.
He turns around and smiles. "Hi." He says.
I smile. "Hi."
"Ethan told me that you might like me. Is that true?" He says looking me in the eyes.
I feel my cheeks heat up and I nervously smile and nod.
"Cool." He says with a laugh.

After school I go home and literally scream into my pillow. Paul had told me that he was going to text me tonight and I was so happy I felt like I was on cloud nine.
Right on cue my phone dinged. But it wasn't from Paul.
