(December 20th)

Brandon and I spent the day re-arranging my room, and after that we went outside and played basket ball for about an hour and a half. We came into the house, sweaty and gross so we both agreed to shower.

I walked down the stairs with leggings, a gray sweater, and my hair up in a towel to dry. Brandon was already sitting on the couch watching Elf. I sat beside from him. "You wanna order pizza?" I asked, being that we both were hungry. "Hell yeah." He said.

I dialed the number and we ordered a half pepperoni-half supreme large pizza. After the order was placed we stayed on the couch watching the Polar Express.

"So hows everything between you and you know." Brandon asks, referring to Ethan. "Alright I guess, I talked to him on his birthday, when I gave him his present." Brandon nods and continues watching the movie.

Just then the door bell rings. Brandon gets up and goes to the door, getting and paying for the pizza. "Thanks bro." I say joining him in the kitchen, where we get plates gatorades and ranch.

We spend the night eating pizza on the couch watching Christmas movies. At the end of A Christmas Carol I get up and stretch. It was 1:34 am, and I was pretty tired so I told my brother goodnight and went upstairs.

Plopping down on my bed, I get out my phone and text Gracie.

To Gracie: wassuhhh

Gracie: yoo wanna go to a Christmas train with me tomorrow ;)

To Gracie: sure 😂 text me tomorrow I'm gonna sleep

Gracie: okayyy night

It wasn't long after that text that I fell asleep.

I woke up to Brandon shaking me and then screaming. "FOUR DAYS TILL CHRISTMAS HAYDEN."

"Get out." I grumbled pulling the blanket over my head.

"Aunt Sherri made pancakes for breakfast." He said. I was convinced to get up, because pancakes were good but aunt Sherri's were amazing pancakes that tasted as if they were from heaven.

I got up quickly and followed Brandon downstairs to the kitchen that smelled of maple syrup and cinnamon.

After breakfast Brandon and I played basket ball until 3, then I decided to take a shower and get ready for the Christmas train.

I had only been to this Christmas train one time, and it was mostly families with their children.

The train would take you a mile into the woods through a wonderland of lights, which was absolutely gorgeous. Then they had a little village at the station with a gingerbread house, and some other cute places.

My outfit consisted of; dark skinny jeans, tall brown boots, a periwinkle sweater, along with my jacket and a white scarf.

I put my hair into a side fishtail braid, did my makeup, heavier than normal but not too bold, and put on my vanilla perfume. Then I headed onto the porch where Gracie was waiting.

We got into her car, and preceded to pull out of my driveway. A conversation started about corgis started as we drove down the road. I grabbed her purple AUX cord and pulled my phone up playing my music.

We sang the chorus of Rumors by Jacob Whitesides loudly, a couple notes off. But finally we pulled into the parking lot of the Denton Christmas Train. (Ps this is real but its in North Carolina lmao)

It had snowed a little today, about 2" covered the ground. We stomped through the snow to the ticket line. The ticket line wasnt special, it had a wooden booth and line with a big sign that read : "Jesus is the reason for the season!" In candy cane letters. A few bulbs were out in it, but you could tell what it said.

Gracie and I payed for our admission and strolled through the path of iridescent Christmas trees and candy canes.

The place had been around for about 50 years, The first time I went was 7 years ago when I was almost 9, I was pretty amazed at everything.

"Jingle bell rock." Floated from the speakers around the side walk as we walked towards the village buildings.

The first place we went in was the ginger bread house, that sadly wasn't made of ginger bread. But it did smell like ginger bread and, you could buy and eat some. Gracie and I got a ginger bread man and some hot chocolate for each of us. We ate it as we walked by a small petting zoo, with only goats.

A train whistle blew as it came back to the station, Gracie and I rushed over to the train, waiting patiently in line.

I saw two familiar faces a couple spots in front of us.

I pulled out my phone.

To Ethan :): I see you 👀

Just then a small ding sounded in front of us and Ethan checked his phone. He looked confused at first but then started looking around him till he saw me. He waved with a big smile and I waved back.

There were only two people between us so Ethan walked past them and stood beside us. "Hey." He said happily. I smiled. "You guys riding the train?" I asked Ethan and Grayson, who just stood there. "Obviously." Ethan said sarcastically. I playfully punched him in the arm laughing.

"Hey Gracie." Ethan said.

I remembered in seventh grade when Ethan had the biggest crush on Gracie, he was head over heels and would horribly attempt to flirt or ask her out any chance he got. I wonder if his feelings had changed.

"Hi Ethan." She said sweetly looking at him. I winked to where only Ethan could see and slyly smiled.

They talked about the Christmas train and how they had come her many times with their families. I smiled, go bestfriend(s).

Our turn came to board the train and and we did we were assigned to the last two rows, both had two seats. Almost instantly Gracie and Ethan chose a row together leaving me and Grayson to sit in the row behind them. I sat at the window seat, then Grayson sat hesitantly beside me.

"Love birds." He said referring to the row in front of us. "Yep." I said. "I guess we're third wheeling together." I said with a light laugh.

The train was dim, but I could still see Grayson's face clearly.

Old Christmas tunes played through the train car, many people singing along. I rested my head against the window and looked out as the train moved forward at last.

So far, no lights could be seen, but then a bunch of snowflake lights shimmered and glowed in the trees. I was in awe at the pretty sight, but then we passed it and went into another section of reindeers. I leaned back into my seat and watched every glowing light shining that passed my window.

The train started playing a Christmas story as it kept winding down the track. In the seat above us I notice Ethan putting his arm around Gracie's shoulder. I smirk and Grayson taps my shoulder getting my attention. I look at him and he's pointing to them.

I nod my head and smile. It was a little weird / awkward talking to Grayson but part of me liked it, and wanted to keep talking.
