Melissas POV
Roman dropped me off at Galinas. "I don't know, but I feel as if he's hiding something," I said to Galina, "ever since we got back last night, he seems distant.
"Yeah I noticed that, but he also told you he has a surprise for you right?"
"Yeah, I'm just really worried about him," I replied.
"He'll be fine."
At that moment Galinas phone rang. I could see the look of pure terror on her face, and my heart sank. When she got off the phone, she guided me into the living room and we sat down. "I don't know how to tell you this, but Romans been shot."
"No no no," I cried out, as Galina pulled me into her arms.
"From what his mom told me, he was at Perdido Key State Park. Witnesses saw him talking to a man and a woman, when the man shot him."
"Jared," I whispered.
"I don't know."
We told JoJo what happened, and as soon as we were calm enough to drive, Galina took us to the hospital.
When we arrived his parents and siblings were in the waiting room. His mom came rushing over to me, the unshed tears from earlier, poured down my face. What seemed like an eternity later, the doctor came and said, "He is in critical condition as of right now, the bullet penetrated his heart. We got the bullet and the shards out, but it's going to be a long process of healing. If you want to see him, we will allow only family members back."
"Melissa, you go first, he will want to see you."
"Oh, so you're the one he was gonna give this to then, I take it?"
He handed me a small rectangular box. I got really dizzy, and collapsed onto the floor. When I woke up, I was in a hospital bed. Rolling to my side, I saw a pair of grey eyes looking back at me. "Hi Babygirl."
The tears were back. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"I'm sorry baby, but I didn't want you in the line of fire. He would've hurt you and our baby."
"Oh good, you're both awake," said the doctor, "how're you feeling?" He asked looking at me.
"Better now," I said looking at Roman.
"So what about me? Can I go home soon?" Roman asked.
"Yeah we should have you out of here in the next day or two, just a few more tests to run. But everything is looking good."
"Can she stay here too?" He asked.
"Don't want to leave her out of your sight huh?"
"Not after what they did," Roman responded.
"I don't see why not, and we will put extra security around your room."
"Thanks doc," he said.
