Percy sat in between Kurt and Puck on the bleachers in the gym. Around them, girls and boys shouted and laughed with their friends as they all waited for the teacher to arrive. A few minutes later, a very manly woman walked into the gym and stood at the base of the bleachers.

"Alright. For those of you who don't know, My name is Coach Beiste. Welcome to senior gym. I'll give you five minutes to pare up with someone to share a locker with." She said as she moved to look amongst the crowd in front of her.

At her words, everyone started talking again. Many of the girls were talking loudly, as if they were desperate for a specific person. Puck got up and walked towards an Asian guy a few feet away, leaving Percy and Kurt by themselves. Percy looked at the boy beside him. Kurt seemed lost in some conversation he was having through text. Percy cleared his throat a little, bringing Kurt back to reality.

"Do you want to be my locker buddy Kurt?" He said with a small smile. His smile slowly drooped when he saw Kurt's worried frown.

"Sorry, but I don't think you want to be my partner. I usually just get one to myself because no one wants to share with me." He said as he turned away from Percy and stared into his lap.

"Why not? You're perfectly likeable." Percy responded. He didn't understand why Kurt was acting so weird.

Kurt hesitated before speaking again. Eventually he sighed. He remained transfixed on his lap as he spoke. "Because I'm gay."

Percy's smile appeared again. He was happy that he could now make sense of everything. "That's not a problem man."

Kurt shot his head back up quickly at his words. "Really?" He held an astonished expression on his face, as if he really couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"Really." Percy confirmed. He had no problem with homosexuals, in fact it reminded him of his best friend Nico. "Remember, I'm from New York City. Actually one of my best friends back home is gay too. He even admitted to having a crush on me."

Kurt seemed to hang on every word Percy said, almost as if he was dreaming of a place where being gay really was considered natural and okay. After a moment of silence, Percy remembered why the conversation had even started.

"So... do you want to be my locker buddy?" He asked again, and this time it was met with a broad smile and many enthusiastic nods. Almost as if on cue, Beiste turned back to the group of kids sitting in the bleachers and began to call off names alphabetically.

"Chang." She said a few names in. The Asian boy raised his hand in response and announced that his locker partner was Puck. After a few more names had been read off the attendance list, she turned to look at Kurt. "Hummel, are you having your own locker again this year?"

Kurt smiled before quickly glanced over at Percy. "Nope. Percy Jackson." All of the side conversations seemed to stop when Kurt spoke. They all seemed to stare at Percy. Even Beiste seemed to be looking Percy over carefully.

"Do you agree to this arrangement, Jackson?" She said a little softer than she had been previously. Percy stared right back at her and shrugged.

"Yeah, why wouldn't I?" He said as he turned around to look at the people higher up in the bleachers too. "Kurt's an awesome guy. Not to mention there is nothing wrong with being gay."

The silence some how seemed to grow deeper as Percy turned back around to face Beiste. He cast a glance at Kurt beside him only to find an expression of complete awe written there. Percy couldn't help but smirk a little.

Beiste cleared her throat loudly as she tried to recover some of her dignity. She returned back to the attendance list and finished rather quickly. After that she assigned locker numbers and locks. By the time everyone had put their locks on their new lockers, the class was over.

"Thank you Percy." Kurt said as the two exited the gym together. Almost everyone else had already disappeared down the hall.

"For what?" Percy found himself asking.

Kurt smiled warmly again. "For what you said earlier. It really meant a lot to me."

Percy scoffed and waved it off. "I didn't say anything that wasn't true and everyone knows it. They just didn't have the nerve to say it aloud."

Kurt laughed slightly at Percy's bluntness. "Well thank you for having the nerve then." He said as they started walking down the hall together. "What's your last class today?"

Percy pulled out his schedule again for the last time that day. "History." He said as he pocketed the piece of paper.

"Nice. Mr. Schuster is a really great guy." Kurt said with another smile. "He is the teacher for Glee Club."

Percy cast him a confused frown. "Glee club?"

Kurt smiled widely again. "Yeah. Against popular belief, it's really fun. We sing songs and compete with other schools."

Percy nodded as he thought about what Kurt had just described. "Sounds like there's a lot of drama."

This ended with Kurt full on laughing very loudly, drawing the attention of many other people in the hall. "Oh, you have no idea."

They stopped outside of a classroom door. Inside, many world maps and posters were hung up on the walls, suggesting that it was indeed a history classroom. Percy turned to look at Kurt once more. "Thanks for all of the help today Kurt. It means a lot to me."

Kurt cast a soft smile towards the other boy. "No problem Percy. I'll see you tomorrow?"

Percy nodded confidently. "Absolutely." With one last wave, Kurt walked down the hall in the opposite way they had come and Percy walked into the room and sat at an open desk towards the back.
