"She quite?" Percy repeated out of shock. Quinn just nodded her head silently. Sally shook her head silently as he got up and left the room. She wasn't too big on drama.
"Yeah, she walked out. Schue put his foot down though. He said if she walked out, she was out."
"Wow." Percy said quietly. "Must be a tough teacher."
Quinn shook her head vigorously. "More like the softest teacher in the school. That's why it was such a big shock."
"Well what are we going to do?" He questioned sadly. "Aren't we basically desperate for members?" Quinn nodded her head again.
"We'll see. We've always pulled it together in the end. Don't worry about it." She said in an attempt to end the conversation. She turned to look at Annabeth as she walked back into the kitchen. She was drying her wet hair with a towel. "Who's this?"
Percy turned towards Annabeth with a smile, he hadn't heard her come back. "Oh, this is my girlfriend Annabeth. Annabeth, this is my new friend Quinn. She lives here."
Annabeth extended her hand politely. "It's nice to meet you." Quinn accepted it and quickly stole her hand back the second it was over.
Quinn stood still for a moment before she spoke again, a stunned expression transfixed on her face. "Honestly, I thought you were gay." She watched as Percy sputtered and choked on a cookie he had been chewing on. Quinn snickered and watched blue cookie crumbs fly across the table before she tried to defend herself. "Well what was I supposed to think. Santana has been basically throwing herself at you with all of the flirting in the past week. I just thought you weren't interested."
Percy regained some control of his coughing fit. "Well you were right. I wasn't interested." He turned to look at his girlfriend only to find her hiding a smile behind her hand. Percy threw his arms up in annoyance. "What is it about me? First Nico and now her! Seriously!" Annabeth couldn't contain her calm demeanor anymore and burst out loudly, her eyes watering a little. Quinn started to laugh too, leaving Percy sitting awkwardly between them. In defeat, He huffed dramatically.
After a few minutes of uncontrollable laughs and giggles, Annabeth regained herself enough to look at Percy apologetically. "I'm sorry Percy. Don't worry about it too much. I think it's all just one big coincidence." Briefly, she glanced over at Quinn again before she locked eyes with Percy. "I should be heading back."
Percy saw her eyes grow dark, as if they were sad and getting stormy. Quickly, Percy looked up at Quinn too and held her gaze for a moment. Luckily, Quinn seemed to get the hint and made her exit. She waved goodbye before she disappeared upstairs.
When they were finally alone in the kitchen, Percy inched closer towards her and reached for her hand. She grasped it firmly and held on tightly. "I'm sorry, but I really should be heading back. I told Chiron that if he hadn't heard from me by nightfall then he should send people out to look for me."
"Why can't you just call him?" Percy said with a little bit of hope hidden in his words. Annabeth shook her head slowly with a small smile fixed on her lips.
"No drachmas is what got me here in the first place Seaweed Brain." She remained silent after her teasing remark. They sat and just breathed in each other's scent. To Percy, she smelled like camp. She smelled like home.
"Will you come visit me again?" Percy said in a begging tone a few minutes later. He watched as a spark of light twinkled in her eyes for a split second before it disappeared. The feeling of hope grew more prominent in his thoughts.
"Of course I will. You should come visit camp sometime. Everyone misses you." Percy smiled as he remembered back to his friends and family back at Camp Half-Blood. He missed them dearly.
"Yeah I will. For sure." They grew silent again. Percy looked at her and couldn't help but smile. She was so beautiful. Her eyes both portrayed and hid her emotions so well and her messy wet hair fell past her shoulders. Percy thought of how much he was going to miss camp, but there was really only one thing that he had found he couldn't live without. "I'm going to miss you so much." He said softly, barely audible to the girl beside him.
She smiled sadly as she leaned even closer towards him. "I'm going to miss you too."
They stared into each other's eyes for a few seconds before closing the space between them. Their lips crashed together and glided in perfect harmony. The kiss didn't last as long as the one they had shared earlier that day in the hallway, but it was so much more. They were saying goodbye, unsure of when they would see each other again. The passionate kiss ended much too soon in Percy's mind, but in the end he knew that he would get to kiss her hello again someday in the future. They laughed as they pulled away from each other and saw that Annabeth was covered in paint again.
