"I don't know, I'm kind of feeling the blue one." Jack suggested, pointing to the blue Chevy that sat on a lonely corner in the tool shack. I raised a brow at him. Surely of all the cars in this place he had to pick the one that most likely no one even considered.
"But it's all...rusty," I ran my finger over the hood of the car, collecting a finger of dust. I gagged. "And dirty too."
"Nothing we can't handle." He said, gently hitting my shoulder with his. I scoffed, rubbing off my finger on his perfect blue hoodie. "Don't you mean you can't handle?"
Fixing cars? Not really my specialty. I never trained to be a mechanic, and I'm pretty sure that a car that can quite possibly blow up if I mess up was not a good place to start.
"No I mean we. As in you and me together." He popped open the hood, taking a once over at the weird wires and contraptions that lay inside. I sighed, toying with a hammer that rested on the table right next to us.
Why were we getting a car? Well I was thinking that if I wanted to hang out with my friends more, I'd probably need one. Considering that almost everyone lived in the city.
Could I drive a car? No. Did I know the first thing about the road? No. But I'm sure it couldn't be that hard to learn.
I glanced over at Jack, watching him tap his chin with his pointer finger, seeming deep in thought. He snapped his fingers, turning and grabbing some pliers sitting on the table and cutting a few cords. I hope he knows that he's doing. For all I know he could be cutting the brakes.
"I need tape." Jack turned to me, giving me a look as if he were telling me I was supposed to go get it.
"Oh I'm sorry is my maid outfit giving you the wrong impression?" I sarcastically said, gesturing to my short shorts I had paired with a blue tang top. Jack narrowed his eyes at me, making me glare right back.
He wasn't going to tell me what to do. If he wanted something, it wasn't so hard to go and get it for himself. I was not his servant and I never would be.
"How's it going?" I heard Chase ask from behind me. Both Jack and I turned to see him walking towards us.
Oh did I forget to mention that he was the one that would be driving me around until I actually learned how to drive?
Chase wasn't at all disagreeing with my craving for a new shiny car. He was not as excited as I was, but I'm sure he did want it. I mean, he went through the trouble of working for the owner of the dealer shop for the whole day just to get it for free. Only problem, he dragged me into doing it with him.
"Oh yanno just..." I stuttered, hitting the hammer against my hands and clearing my throat. Jack smirked, seeming amused with my struggle to say what was going on. I honestly had no clue what he was trying to do with the car earlier. "I was just checking out the strings-"
"Wires." Jack corrected.
"Wires. Yes the wires." Chase slowly nodded, not removing his questioning eyes from me whilst he walked behind me to check out the car.
I turned to Jack, punching him in the arm. He growled, jumping onto me and tackling me onto the floor. I tried to knock him in a pressure point to make him lose conciousness, but he seemed way too good at fighting to fall for the oldest trick in the book.
"Oh your were trying to hijack the vehicle." Chase clarified, turning to face me. Jack was stradling my waist while I was holding back his fists when we realised that Chase was looking at me. "What are you doing on the floor?"
"I uh," I slipped my hand under Jack's hoodie, pinching his hip between my finger tips. He welped, trying to remove my finger that was tightening it's grip.
