Chapter 2

Inayah's Point Of View

Life has changed drastically. I can no longer be the crazy girl I use to be. I have responsibilities that I have to care for. I wish Ammi and Abu were here but it was Allah's will. I am happy Alhumdillah, I have my small family. These three kids are my life without them I don't think I can be as strong as I am.

"Sara, did you find his bag?" I was getting late today in dropping these munchkins off

"Yeah I found it, let's go"

"Sara, hold Mahira and Bilal's hand while I lock up the apartment."

~In the Car~

"Api, going by Phupu (Dad's sister) today?" Bilal asked in his broken english

"Yeah my beta (son) we will go by Phupu today"

Every three weeks we all go to my dad's sister's place for 2 days usually on the weekend when there is no work or school.

My dad had two sisters and four brothers. His sisters live here and one of his brothers who we call Tayabu. The rest of his brothers live around the world so we don't see them much, they didn't come to my parent's janazah (Funeral) either. I am not mad at them but I am upset. My Ammi's family doesn't live here. They all live in Saudi Arabia. They call once every 2 months or so asking how we are.

After dropping Sara off at her high school, I dropped Mahira off at school. Sara is in 9th grade and Mahira is in 4th grade. Since Bilal is 4 and I have to work I drop him at a daycare that is run by a Muslim lady who was my Ammi's best friend.
