Chapter 13

It was a long ride from Phupu's place to Zaid's house but alhumdillah when we arrived I was in awed by how beautiful the house looked. Mashallah it looked like it was constructed recently because of the house design. We all got out with Bilal in my arms.

When we runged the door bell, a lady in brown hijab opened the door. Mashallah she looked very beautiful with her grey eye color just like Sara's eyes.

"Asalamwalakum, come inside" she greeted moving aside to let us in

"Walaikumsalam Zahra" My phupu replied hugging her. Wow she is Zaid's mom and insha'allah my future mother-in-law, thinking of that blood rushed to my face.

"Please follow me" she says guiding us to a room which I believe is the hall

In the hall there were 5 people standing up to greet us all. I learned from Phupu that Zaid has 2 brothers and 1 sister so I believe those are the people and the uncle standing next to Zahra Aunty is Zaid's dad, Aarif uncle.

"Please take a seat" Aarif Uncle says with a smile

I start taking a seat when Zahra Aunty comes and says "Mashallah Inayah, you are really beautiful that photo of yours does no justice to you" making my face heat up to which I reply "Jazakallah khair Zahra Aunty, Mashallah you are really pretty" I tell her truly to which she smiles and makes me sit between her and phupu. After some time Zaid had come and greeted everyone and sat next to Sadiq bhai and his younger brother Ayaan. We all had some small talks and then Aunty told us that dinner is ready.

"Api? Bilal et wit Api" Bilal says coming up to me

"Mashallah, he is so cute" Ayesha baji, Zaid's sister says looking at Bilal which makes Bilal hold my legs. Zaid's older brother Haroon was married as well as Ayesha baji. Haroon bhai's wife was visiting her parents so she wasn't here and Ayesha baji's husband had some work due to which he hadn't come.

"Jazakallah khair Baji" I smile at Ayesha baji "Okay, Bilal come here" I pull Bilal up on my lap and take the food plate and start feeding Bilal the biryani.

"Api, yummy" Bilal compliments the food after he takes a bite and I nod telling him to eat up

"Inayah, I will feed Bilal" Phupu says and tries to take Bilal but he shakes his head vigorously

"No, Bilal et vit Api" Bilal says looking at Phupu

"Okay baba, eat with your Api" Phupu says shaking her head and smiling

After dinner we all had return to the living room. Zahra Aunty had come and sat beside me.

"Inayah beta, Zaid told me what you wanted. Me and Zaid's Abbu agree with your wishes. I am happy you told Zaid as well. I know this is a short time to ask for your answer about this whole marriage thing but I was wondering if you had your answer if not it's okay" Zahra Aunty said holding my hand and I turned to Phupu who was sitting on the other side of me, asking through my eyes if I should tell her my answer right now and Phupu nodded. So I smiled and turned to Zahra aunty and said "Yes..." and squeezed Aunty's hand

"Really beta?" Aunty asked again and I nodded confirming my answer. Everyone was in their own conversation so when Aunty suddenly hugged me, everyone turned around to see what got her excited. My family already understood but Zaid and the rest were still confused. From Ayesha baji's facial expression changing I knew she understood what got her Ammi excited.

"Ya Allah is it what I think it is, Ammi?" Ayesha baji asked impatiently

"I don't know what you are thinking Ayesha but I just got myself another daughter" Zahra Aunty exclaimed happily getting up and going near Zaid as Ayesha baji came up to me and hugged me tightly. From the corner of my eyes I saw all the men congratulating Zaid and then Zahra Aunty hugging Zaid. After hugging his Ammi, Zaid looked towards me and we made eye contact, he gave a smile and a nod which made me feel some unknown feeling.

"Now that we got both their consent we should start with the wedding preparations insha'allah" Aarif Uncle said to which Tayabu nodded

The elders were all talking on one side of the living room about the wedding preparations and my brothers, Zaid, his brothers and my siblings were sitting on the other side talking. I saw Zaid having conversation with my sisters with Bilal in his lap which made me smile. Me and Ayesha baji talked which was more like teasing from her side, she kept telling me things about Zaid until I changed the topic and asked her about what she does. That's how it went till the elders called our attention towards them.

"Bacho (kids) we have decide if it's okay with the to-be groom and bride that the nikah will be next week with only the presence of family and your close friends, then after ramadan we will have the Valima, which will be grand Insha'Allah" Tayabu announced

One week?! That is a bit early I thought since insha'allah Ramadan will start in about 8 days, but Tayabu explained that after the nikah, Zaid will be my mehram so he will be able to bond with my siblings fast. I was going to object about having a grand Valima but Zahra Aunty said that she wants her 2nd son's wedding to be as good as her 1st son's wedding and I agreed. I wonder what Zaid was thinking because he hasn't said anything.
