Chapter 18: I am challenged

I landed hard on cold ground. We were in some sort of ballroom. There was a terrible view of the outside world. It was post-apocalyptic. The skies were grey, almost green, and there were little huts on the ground. But the building we landed in was so nice and elegant. I looked around me. I was at the foot of a large staircase. Bri, Clay, Connor, Ellie and Jayden were sprawled on the ground in the weirdest positions. Jayden got up, but so did Clay and Connor. They held him back, and I hit him with a fire ball. Jayden turned to acid. My fire was starting to turn red again. I needed to eat some more. When all of us were up, we were immediately surrounded again. Except this time, there were ten times as many ninjas as there were before. They all cleared a path for someone who was walking towards us. It was an eight year old girl with a double sided spear. "Who are you guys? And how did you get in my castle?"

"Who are you and where are we?"

"I'm Rachel and you're in my daddy's castle."

Clay whispered his plan. "Hey! I know Rachel. She's the Skull Man's daughter. I'll get her to let me go and then I'll come back for you guys!" We all agreed.

"Hey, Rachel! Remember me? I'm on your side!"

"Nice try, Clay, but Daddy knows you're one of them."

"Damn it. Who told him? Was it Clem? I bet it was Clem. I'm going to kill that snitch."

"Daddy also has the other petal that you guys are looking for. Diana was it?"

"Where are you keeping her?"

"In Never World, but you guys aren't going to live long enough to rescue her. Listen I don't like killing much, so let's play a game. You five against me and four of my ninjas. It'll be a little tournament. First team with all of its members on the ground loses. If I win, I turn you into my Daddy and he kills you."

"What happens if we win?"

"I'll give you passage to the Never World, and you can kill us."

We lowered our voices. "Guys, this is a lose-lose situation for us. Even if we win, there's no telling if we'll survive in the Never World," Clay advised. "Why not?" I asked. "It's called the Never World for two reasons. One: it's home to a species that never existed on Earth. Two: almost every person that's gone in there has never come out. The only person who's survived it is the Skull Man and that's because he's on their good side for some reason."

"Still. It's our only chance of saving the last petal. We've got to try." Clay was uneasy about it, but after a while he agreed. "It's a deal," he said to Rachel.

"Good," she said with a sly smile. "Bruno, show them to their dressing rooms. You have one hour to change, pick your weapons, and prepare to be annihilated."

"This'll be a piece of cake. How tough can an eight year old girl be?"

"You'd be surprised," Clay replied. Rachel called one of the ninjas, and he came up to her. In a split second, there was a blur, and the ninja was on the ground with a knife in his chest.

Bri was pacing back and forth in the dressing room. "What are we going to do? We up against a crazy fast eight-year old girl and her ninjas which were not that easy to kill. Maybe we need to spar with each other. Connor and Allison spar, right now." I got up out of the surprisingly comfy chair I was sitting in and faced Connor. We bowed, and we attacked. I punched, and Connor grabbed my wrist with his hand and flipped me. He kicked, and I did the same thing he did to me. He got up and pushed me to the ground. He was on top of me and our lips were so close we could've kissed. His blue eyes stared into mine. I took the chance and pushed him off of me. Now I was on top of him. "You let me win," I said, realizing that he wasn't trying too hard. "Can't help it. You're my girlfriend." He said pulling me to his chest. "Well try harder," I told him. "Alright, you asked for it." He let go of me, then tried to punch me. I stopped his fist, but he was strong. He grabbed a sword from the wall of the dressing room. I did the same. "En guarde!" The swords clashed. I blocked all of his attacks. Finally, he knocked the sword out of my hand, grabbed me by the shoulder, and pulled me back to his chest. I felt him breathing on my neck. The blade of his sword was at my throat. "Did I do better, this time?" He asked, releasing me from his grip, and lowering the blade. "Much better." Now it was Clay vs. Bri. They bowed, and sparred. "Hey, is there a no fire rule in sparring?" Clay asked as Bri dodged a perfect sidekick. "I don't think so, but Bri isn't fireproof like we are, and it's just a spar, so I don't think you should use fire," I replied. Clay rolled his eyes. Just then, someone came into the room as Bri decided to jump on Clay's back as if he was giving her a piggyback ride. "Compliments of Alfred. Your match starts in five," the man said holding out two familiar black bags. How did Alfred know where we were? I took the backpacks, and realized that these were the ones I had brought with me to my mom's house. One of them included snacks and water and an extra pair of clothes. I couldn't remember what was in the other bag, though. I looked down at my dress. There were many holes in the skirt, but luckily the ones near the top weren't that big. Even my leather jacket was damaged. I went into the bathroom to change before the match.
