Chapter 19: I am injured

It was right before game time. The referee was in our dressing room explaining the tournament to us. There are three rounds. Each team has a one hour time out that they can use once throughout all three rounds. There are no rules as to what moves you use or weapons. Each round lasts 10 minutes, but no blood should be spilled until the end of the three rounds. The ref led us to the arena. It was almost like a football stadium, except with a roof. There was even a crowd of people. I think I saw Michael Jackson in the front row. Rachel and her team were on the other side of the stadium, walking towards the center to meet us. She wore a black jumpsuit to match her ninjas' black theme, acting like she was the princess... Which she was. On the other hand, Clay was still in his burnt suit, Connor had taken off his blazer, Bri's dress was ripped, Ellie was literally shaking, and I was in sweats and a t-shirt. It sure didn't look like we could win. Clay stepped up to Rachel, and they shook hands. Then we took five steps back and turned around, so we wouldn't face the enemy. I heard the loud voice of a commentator announcing Round 1. A bell rang and we were forced into battle.

There was chaos within the first three seconds. Each of us had someone to fight. Clay had Rachel, and the rest of us had ninjas. We just needed to survive for ten minutes. I tried my best to focus on my ninja. The others would be fine, I kept telling myself. He was fast, but not fast enough. I successfully blocked all of his attacks. I waited until he made the wrong move. I grabbed his arm, twisted it, kicked him in the stomach, and flipped him. The bell rang, and the first round was over. We each returned to our own sides. We had manajed to pin down three of the ninjas. The ninjas had managed to pin down Ellie. Ellie wasn't really a fighter. She was still getting used to being one of us. She didn't even know how to use her own element. I was starting to regret having her on the team. If she couldn't fight, how would she be useful to us?

It was now time for the second round. We did the same plan as last time: each of us gets a ninja. Connor was taking care of Rachel this time. The ninja in front of me was struggling. His speed had decreased. His attacks got slower and slower every minute. At about the halfway point, I had finally managed to clock him. He collapsed onto the ground. I went to go help The others. Two ninjas were already on the floor. Clay was helping Connor, and Bri looked like she could handle it. But where was Ellie? I scanned the entire arena until I found her on the far end. She was running like a maniac around the stadium, with a ninja chasing after her. I was just about to give up on her. I ran to the other side, and struck the ninja in the head. "You seriously need to be trained. You'll need it if you want to stay with us," I warned her. I ran back to help Connor and Clay. Bri had joined them. Everyone was onto Rachel now. There were three minutes left in the round. We had her surrounded. Ellie stood behind us, watching us fight. There was no way that Rachel could take out all four of us. We would win for sure. Just as I was thinking that, the inevitable happened. Rachel whipped out her double sided spear. There was a blur, and Clay and Connor were on the ground. Blood was rushing from Clay's chest. Connor was gripping his shoulder tightly. There was another blur, and Ellie was knocked out with Bri. I was the only one left. One last blur, and there was a sharp pain coming from my stomach. I looked down, and Rachel's spear was in my stomach. She looked into my eyes maliciously. "Time out," I somehow managed to say. I doubled over in pain, and I felt two strong arms pick me up and drag me away. my vision was getting blurry. I could hear my heartbeat throbbing in my ear. My stomach was bleeding horrifically. At last, I finaly dozed off.

"Allison! Allie you gotta wake up!" I heard someone say. I woke up in the dressing room. My stomach hurt badly from the spear. I looked around the room. Clay was just waking up along with Bri. "I was so worried! I thought you had died or something and I didn't know what to do!" Ellie said anxiously. "What happened? How long were we out?" I asked groggily. "Only a few minutes." Everything that just happened had come back to me. "Oh my god. Clay. Clay are you okay?" I rushed over to my brother. "Allison. It hurts." He lifted his shirt to reveal where Rachel had stabbed him. I heard a thump, and Ellie was on the floor. "Told you you could make people faint," I said smiling weakly. I summoned fire from the little energy I had left and it spread onto my hand. I placed my hand against his wound. He watched me, and most of the color returned to his face. His hand ignited, and he placed his hand on my stomach. It felt a little tingly at first, but then I felt better. I could feel the wound closing up. It was nice to have a brother who could heal all of your wounds. Once we were all better, we got up. "How did you do that?" Ellie asked us. "I don't really know. It's a fire thing. It only works on us though," Clay replied. I knelt down in front of Connor. He was still injured. His eyes fluttered open when he saw me. "Gee, helping your brother before me. That makes me feel so special inside," he said sarcastically. "Connor, you know my fire won't work on you." He smiled. "I was just kidding," he said. He took a sharp breath. "I think I know what to do," Ellie said all of a sudden. She knelt down on the other side of Connor, and put her hands on his shoulder wound like I did. "Ellie. It's not going to work. You and Connor aren't fire petals like we are," I started to say. Water trickled from the injury. The blood was washed away, and when Ellie lifted her hands, Connor was all better. "How did you do that?" I asked in shock. I had always thought that only Clay and I could be healed like that. "I don't know. But one day, I got a scrape when I fell on some cement. I touched it, and all of a sudden, it was all better." Bri had finally come to, to see us all better. "Did I miss something?" I looked at the clock on the wall. We had forty five minutes until we had to go back out there. "We need a plan. The only problem is that Rachel is way too fast. We need something to slow her down, like a distraction," Connor explained. I was getting a little bit thirsty. I looked at the two bags that we were given, and I opened up the other one. It was filled with all of the zombie makeup from Halloween. And then, I had the craziest idea. "Guys, I think I've found our distraction."
